2015 National High School Exam Score Distribution

According to the score distribution announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, most candidates scored between 5 and 7.5 points in Math . Nationwide, only 86 candidates scored 10 points, while the total number of candidates scoring 9 or higher was about 10,000. However, in this subject, nearly 12,000 candidates scored zero (a failing score in the national high school exam is 1 point).

For Literature , 11 candidates scored 10 points, with the majority of scores falling between 4 and 7. No candidate scored 0 points in this subject, but more than 600 candidates failed.

Similar to Literature, the main score range of Physics also fluctuates between 4-7 points. The highest score range of Physics is 6. Nationwide, only 1 candidate scored 10 in Physics, and 1,403 candidates scored 9.0. For multiple-choice tests, the failure rate is quite limited. In Physics, only a few hundred candidates scored below 1 point.

For Chemistry , there were 130 candidates nationwide who scored 10, with the score range mainly falling between 5-7. The number of candidates who failed was very low, but there were nearly 300 candidates who scored 0. However, these candidates may have registered but did not take the Chemistry exam or violated the exam regulations.

The Biology score range is quite low, commonly falling between 3-5. Only 35 candidates scored 10. This is quite understandable because Biology is an elective subject and the admission quota for schools that have this subject group is highly differentiated, as shown by the fact that the Medical and Pharmaceutical schools have very high admission scores every year, while the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries schools have quite low scores.

The most surprising thing was the History subject, when many people thought that the score of this subject would not be high. However, on the score spectrum announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, the score spectrum was mainly concentrated in the range of 4-7. Nationwide, there were 11 candidates who scored 10 points. The total number of candidates who scored 0 points in History was only 442, a suspicious decrease compared to previous years. The number of candidates who failed History (from 1 point or less) was only about 1,300.

The score distribution of Geography subject is quite high compared to previous years, with the common score falling in the range of 5-7.5. In this subject, 84 candidates scored 10. The number of candidates with failing scores was less than 600.

The subject with the lowest score range is Foreign Language , the score range is mainly concentrated at 2-3.5 points. This is consistent with the current reality of teaching foreign languages. This result will have a positive impact on changing the way of teaching and learning foreign languages in high schools. In Foreign Language, 59 candidates scored 10 points, nearly 20,000 candidates scored 8 points or higher. The number of candidates with failing scores is less than 200.

Through the analysis of the above score distributions, it can be seen that the combination of 3 subjects of this year's exam blocks has higher results than last year, so the initial quality score threshold for admission to universities and colleges may increase by 1-1.5 points. In particular, the combination of subjects of blocks A, B and D will have quite large fluctuations, however, the standard score for the top schools above will hardly change dramatically. The number of candidates with a total score of 3 subjects for admission reaching the absolute level can be counted on the fingers.
However, with History having a better score range than the university entrance exam every year, the risk of wide fluctuations in group C is inevitable.
