The benchmark score for health majors has increased, what are the chances for candidates with 19-22.5 points?

The health sector attracts a large number of applications from excellent candidates every year, causing the competition rate to be high and the benchmark scores to increase. The question is, with the benchmark scores for the health sector being sky-high, what are the chances for candidates with 19-22.5 points?
The benchmark for the Health sector is always among the highest.
High competition ratio, high benchmark
The health sector always has a high competition rate and high benchmark scores. Among them, majors such as general medicine and dentistry are at an extremely high level. Many candidates, even though they score 28 or 29 points, can still fail if they do not know how to choose and arrange their wishes appropriately. Pharmacy and nursing are lower but still need to score 25 to 27 points to be admitted.
Explaining the reason for the high benchmark scores for the health sector, Associate Professor, Doctor, People's Physician Hoang Duc Hanh - Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University, former Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, said that the health sector has few quotas but the number of candidates registering each year is large, gathering good and excellent candidates.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training also has a threshold to ensure the quality of input for this industry, one of the prerequisites is that candidates must have excellent 12th grade academic performance, good graduation score (fair or higher for nursing). Therefore, to have a chance to be admitted to this industry, first of all, students must have outstanding academic ability.
To be admitted to the health sector, candidates must have outstanding academic ability.
To study health, high scores are not enough.
However, Associate Professor, Doctor, People's Physician Hoang Duc Hanh also affirmed that to study health, candidates do not need to be in the top 28-30 points. Candidates who score 22.5 points are fully qualified to study medicine, 21 points are qualified to study pharmacy, 19 points are qualified to study nursing if the candidate possesses the qualities and qualities required of a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, etc.
Sharing the same view, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien - Vice Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Vietnam National University, Hanoi said: the health sector in general and the medical sector in particular have high specialization, intelligence is only a necessary condition.
However, candidates do not need to be in the top 28-30 points.
Candidates who want to pursue this career field need to have other important qualities such as: thinking ability and diligence; perseverance, patience, hard work; quickness, precision in every movement; honesty; a kind heart; courage...
Not to mention the working environment in hospitals and medical facilities is very stressful and difficult. Candidates who want to choose these majors need to be in good health and physical condition to be able to work all night and be exposed to blood without fainting.
"Studying well is not enough, you must have the right qualities to do the job of a good doctor like a mother. Therefore, you do not need to be in the top 28-30 points, 22.5 points can study well in general medicine and become a good doctor" Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Trung Kien affirmed.
And not outside the above viewpoint, the Ministry of Education and Training has determined the threshold to ensure the quality of input for the health sector with a score of 22.5 points for medicine, 21 points for pharmacy and 19 points for nursing.
22.5 points are enough to study medicine, 21 points are enough to study pharmacy, 19 points are enough to study nursing.
Opportunity for candidates with 19-22.5 points to study health majors
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien advised that if candidates love general medicine, they can put that major as their first choice. However, they should not risk considering only one choice but should register for lower choices.
For example, the first choice is general medicine at a top school (Hanoi Medical University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hanoi National University, etc.), then the second choice is still general medicine but at a school with a lower admission score but still ensuring training quality and having additional competitive advantages such as Dai Nam University (competitive advantages in English, soft skills, positive attitude, etc.). The next choices can be pharmacy, nursing, laboratory technology, etc.
The health sector, including medicine, pharmacy, and nursing, is the core training axis, receiving special investment and development from Dai Nam University.
Multiple methods to choose from
In 2024, Dai Nam University (school code DDN) will enroll 1,250 full-time university students in the health sector in the fields of medicine (300 students), pharmacy (700 students), and nursing (250 students) according to 3 admission methods.
