Mr. Mai Van Trinh, Director of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment, Ministry of Education and Training, affirmed this in an interview with the press on the morning of June 23.

After the Ministry of Education and Training announced the sample test questions for 8 subjects in the national high school exam , some localities organized mock tests based on the sample questions and public opinion said that the test requirements were too difficult.
Mr. Mai Van Trinh said: "We have accepted your comments and made more reasonable adjustments when creating the exam questions and three scores to create favorable conditions for candidates depending on their purpose of participating in the exam ( only considering high school graduation , only using university and college admission results or both purposes).
The 2015 national high school exam will be developed in a direction that is close to the innovation direction of the Ministry of Education and Training to promote the capacity of learners, initially impacting the teaching and learning process in high schools. But it will not shock candidates.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training's planned exam design, about 60% of the exam content will be within the scope of basic knowledge and skills, aimed at recognizing high school graduation, and 40% will have highly differentiated content for university and college admission.
“If compared to the 2014 high school graduation exam, the maximum score for a candidate was 10 points, but this year’s exam will be 6 points. Thus, candidates only need to score 3/10 points on this year’s exam (3/6 points in the basic part) to be considered to have met the basic requirements at an average level,” Mr. Trinh shared.
Mr. Trinh affirmed that there may be candidates who only get 2.5 points/subject, but have other subjects with higher scores to "support" them, so they can still meet the basic requirements for high school graduation .
"According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, in addition to exam scores, students' learning process scores are the basis for considering high school graduation, so candidates should not worry too much," said Mr. Trinh.
Mr. Mai Van Trinh also said that, taking into account comments, the exam will not mix difficult and easy questions together, but the difficulty of the questions will be arranged in order of "increasing difficulty".
This will prevent candidates from feeling stressed when they immediately start answering difficult questions, leading to losing their composure and affecting the test results.
Regarding the exam marking stage, Mr. Mai Van Trinh said that he has directed universities and the Department of Education and Training to preside over the exam clusters to select teachers with qualifications and many years of experience in marking exams.
However, to ensure fairness and objectivity for candidates in different examination clusters and localities, this year's marking instructions will be more specific.
The marking process follows two independent marking rounds, and 5% of the exam papers will be randomly checked and assessed if there are any signs of irregularities.
