Workshop "Building a Chinese Language Training Program in the period of integration and sustainable development"

How to build a training roadmap that brings the best benefits to learners? How can graduates meet the job requirements immediately without having to be retrained by businesses? With the goal of building an excellent training program for students majoring in Chinese Language in the period of integration and development, the Chinese Language Department of Dai Nam University chaired a workshop gathering many leading experts to discuss and contribute ideas to build the best study program for students.

The workshop " Building a Chinese Language Training Program in the period of integration and sustainable development " was successfully held on the online platform Ms Teams by the Faculty of Chinese Language & Culture, Dai Nam University!

Attending the Workshop, on the School's side, there were Dr. Luong Cao Dong (School Principal), the scientific council and all teachers of the Chinese Language and Culture Department and teachers in the School's training management board.

On the guest side, the program has the participation of a team of guests who are Associate Professors, PhDs, leading experts in Chinese language from major Universities/Academies with many years of experience in training Chinese language across the country such as: Foreign Trade University, University of Languages and International Studies - VNU, Hanoi University, Academy of Military Science, University of Commerce, University of Foreign Languages, Thu Do University, Ha Long University...

The guest list includes leading experts in the Chinese language industry.

There were also guests who were leaders of Chinese import-export enterprises such as: Dai Viet Import-Export & Trading Co., Ltd; Tam Nhin Dong Duong Travel & Trading Service Co., Ltd; Director of Binh Minh Corp Import-Export Co., Ltd...

Topics discussed at the workshop included:

1. Objectives and output standards of the training program;
2. Names and contents of the subjects in the training program;
3. Number of credits and total actual teaching hours in knowledge blocks in the training program;
4. Building specialized knowledge block courses;
5. Issues regarding internship and graduation thesis;
6. Other related issues.

Delegates highly appreciated the draft Training Program (CTDT) of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture with clear and logical output standards. The ratio of credits between knowledge blocks is reasonably distributed, many credits are highly integrated, the curriculum possesses unique differences. The ratio of theoretical and practical credits is suitable for the content and purpose of the course.

The workshop took place in a lively atmosphere, delegates put forward many initiatives such as: allocating time in semesters, adding some elective subjects to increase flexibility for the program,... In the workshop, Dr. Dinh Van Hau - Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, University of Languages - VNU, gave his assessment of the training program at the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, Dai Nam University: "I am very satisfied with the Bachelor's program in Chinese Language and Culture of Dai Nam University. The curriculum of the faculty has increased the practical part, helping learners to regularly practice soft skills, consolidate more specialized knowledge to do well in 4 skills: listening - speaking - reading - writing, thereby helping students approach work more easily" .

Students majoring in Chinese Language and Culture at Dai Nam University are equipped with language knowledge from a very early age.

Also at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, University of Languages and International Studies, VNU) said: “If students are oriented and equipped with early language knowledge along with basic knowledge of Chinese, they will have the opportunity to do good internships from semester 5 onwards, even from semesters 3-4-5. This is really beneficial for students majoring in Chinese language. In fact, many Chinese language students who do internships and practice early have good academic results, they are confident in communication activities in the language they have learned and are proficient in many other soft skills…”

Ms. Minh also commented on the training program of the Department of Chinese Languages, DNU: “Students who graduate from the Department of Chinese Languages, Dai Nam University, can work immediately thanks to the practice-oriented bachelor's program of the Department. Accordingly, all theoretical subjects are not only built purely on theory, but are taught in a practical direction, the training program serves to meet output standards. Therefore, students who graduate can work immediately without having to be retrained.”

The workshop was a great success. The workshop also clearly demonstrated the responsibility of the Faculty and the School to society and learners. Although the draft of the new training program requires more investment in human resources, financial resources and material resources, with the determination of the School, we are always ready with all our heart and soul for our beloved Dai Nam students. The Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture believes that the new training program will help the Faculty and the School train Chinese language human resources to meet the increasingly high demands of today's society.
