Yesterday (July 6), the Ministry of Education and Training completed the announcement. National High School Exam Scores 2017 across the country. In this year's National High School Exam, there was a "rain" of 10s. This has made many people wonder 2017 university entrance scores what will it be like?

According to many education experts, having many 10s is not a good sign and the university entrance score may increase this year.

Responding to Thanh Tra newspaper, Mr. Le Huu Lap, former Deputy Director of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, shared: “The “rain” of 10s in this year’s National High School Exam made students happy, but I felt… sad. The exam questions could not differentiate the candidates, so they could not choose good students. Everyone who got 10s was happy, but they could not choose truly good students. High exam scores, just a difference of 0.25 points, also affected the failure or pass, so it was a matter of luck.”

Giving an estimate of the admission scores for universities this year, Mr. Lap said that the admission scores will increase by 1-2 points. The average score this year will increase from 7 to 10 points, for example, the Math score in 2016 was 5-6, this year it is 7-8. Therefore, for the top schools, the admission scores will increase by a few points, for the middle schools, the admission scores will increase by 1-2 points, but for the lower schools, the admission scores will not increase, and admission will continue to be difficult.

In general, Mr. Le Viet Anh - Deputy Head of Training Department, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi commented: "With the level of exam questions and admission methods like this year, the admission score can be higher by 0.5 - 1 point".

National Economics University - the top school with the most applications and the first choice is up to more than 11,000 applications, Mr. Bui Duc Trieu - Head of Training Management Department, predicted that the fluctuation in the standard score at the school will not be much. The majors that were in the top last year with high admission scores such as: International Economics, Accounting... will remain the same this year.

Meanwhile, answering VnExpress about the floor score and benchmark score this year, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga said: "According to the plan on July 12, the floor score council will meet and set a threshold to ensure the quality of university entrance. For many years, the floor score has not fluctuated much, always at 14-15. How many points will be taken this year will have to wait until the analysis of national exam score data, based on the results of candidates and the quotas of new schools can decide. However, the floor score this year cannot suddenly change.

The Ministry of Education and Training will announce the score distribution of the exam subjects and the traditional university admission combinations before releasing the floor scores. This will give candidates more time to research and carefully analyze the score distribution, thereby making an accurate decision on their university admission wishes."

Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga also gave advice to candidates: "In case the actual score is not much different from the expected score registered for university admission before, candidates should not adjust their wishes. Because the admission principle this year is based on scores, not on priority order of wishes. That is, if candidate A registers for the 10th wish at school B but has a higher exam score than candidate C who registers for the 1st wish at this school, then A will be admitted.

However, if the score distribution of the 3-subject combination changes a lot compared to last year, the admission score for a major/school that considers this combination may change by that much. Candidates should calmly analyze to achieve their most desired wishes."
