Not everyone has the courage to leave a path they've been on and are doing well to start over. It's even harder for those who have a university degree, a job, a stable position, and social recognition. But Dao Sy Son did it: graduating from Hanoi University of Technology, he gradually established himself in the business environment, taking on the position of Head of Sales at HBR Holding – a position many would consider their "destination." Son was in his comfort zone, and yet he boldly stepped out of it.

Dao Sy Son - a first-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University, is a graduate of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, majoring in Business Administration.
When success isn't enough to stop.
Sơn's years working in the business gave him many things: skills, income, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of people and the many facets of life. But it was also from these experiences that a question became increasingly clear: Was he living a good life or a right life? And he realized he was increasingly drawn to the field of healthcare and community service.

Son shared: “Hanoi University of Science and Technology was the right choice back then, and the knowledge I gained is still very helpful in my current job. But deep down, my dream of becoming a doctor never faded. When I had enough experience and enough courage, I decided to return to my passion.”

Changing direction after settling down: reckless or courageous?
Returning to university after years of working, and being eight years older than his classmates, was not an impulsive act for Son. It was a decision made after thoroughly understanding the cost of the choice.

In the context of rapidly developing artificial intelligence (AI), Son clearly sees the irreplaceable role of humans in the medical field. Technology can support diagnosis and treatment, but knowledge, understanding, and medical ethics remain central to healthcare. This realization led Son to choose to study medicine – not only to change himself, but to create lasting value for the community.

As someone who frequently connects with and understands people's feelings, the young man decided to return to his passion for studying medicine so that he could help even more people.

Dai Nam University - where superficial learning is not allowed.

When deciding to study medicine, Son wasn't looking for an easygoing environment, but rather a rigorous training institution where students were forced to learn, practice, and take real responsibility. The Faculty of Medicine at Dai Nam University was such a choice. Here, the training program is meticulously designed, academic discipline is clear, and lecturers not only teach knowledge but also instill professional ethics and the moral standards of a physician. There is no room for complacency, and certainly no room for the mindset of "just getting the job done."

Son shared: “From the training program to the teaching staff, everything requires students to study diligently, practice genuinely, and take exams honestly. The teachers are all experts with deep expertise, not only teaching knowledge but also instilling in us a professional spirit and ethics.”

The faculty of the Faculty of Medicine - Dai Nam University consists of leading experts in the fields of medicine and public health.

Son's seriousness in his studies was demonstrated through his actions. At the end of the first semester, Dao Sy Son achieved excellent results, becoming one of the outstanding students in his cohort. This wasn't due to a superior starting point, but rather because he clearly understood why he was studying and who he wanted to become. It also clearly proves that choosing to return to university wasn't a nostalgic reflection on youth, but a decision made with courage, competence, and responsibility.

Despite being much older than his classmates, Son quickly adapted to an open yet rigorous learning environment where ability and attitude were the only measures of success.
The medical profession doesn't require many promises, just the right choice.
The story of Dao Sy Son is also the message that Dai Nam University steadfastly pursues: education is not only for those who go straight ahead, but also for those who dare to stop, dare to change direction, and dare to choose a more difficult path for the community. For Son, his journey in studying medicine has only just begun, but it is a right start. And in education, as in life, choosing the right path is always more important than choosing too early.
