The 12th Year of the Love Cake: Great experiences and lessons that no textbook or lecture hall can convey

With the mission of "training students to have a good life and be good citizens after graduation", Dai Nam University has focused all training resources so that students after graduation have: Good professional knowledge, solid professional skills, foreign language and IT skills, soft skills, good health foundation, discipline, good attitude... and a complete personality to be able to study, work and live. The school's movement activities also aim at the above goals and Tam banh nghia tinh is one of the volunteer activities that carries all of these meanings.

The traditional charity program "The Cake of Love" of teachers and students of Dai Nam University (DNU) has entered its 12th year but is still highly anticipated and has a profound influence in the social community.

Charity program "Banh nghia tinh 2023" - Spring of connection, Tet of sharing.

The event attracted the attention and participation of many teachers and students in the whole school.

DNU teachers and students happily wrapped cakes to give to people in difficult circumstances.

Every step of preparation is carefully done by teachers and students to create the best quality cakes.

By 2023, the "Banh Nghia Tinh" Program had mobilized thousands of staff, lecturers and students to participate; raised nearly 3 billion VND; personally wrapped more than 25,000 banh chung, bringing Tet to tens of thousands of less fortunate people in society.

The destinations of this year's "Banh Nghia Tinh" program are: Central Children's Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Tan Trieu K Hospital, Sait Paul Hospital, Ha Dong General Hospital, Quan Cam Leprosy Center - Bac Ninh; poor children, lonely and homeless elderly people in Hanoi; families of war invalids and martyrs, poor households in Phu Lam and Phu Luong wards - Ha Dong - Hanoi; kindergarten and primary school students in Lam Vy - Dinh Hoa - Thai Nguyen... and DNU employees in difficult circumstances.

The gift is small in material terms but has great spiritual meaning.

Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Principal shared: "In addition to expressing the spirit of mutual love and support, the whole leaf covers the torn leaf, it is also a gratitude for the values of life, honoring the traditional cultural values of the nation so that the young generation can return to their roots, preserve and promote traditional cultural values, thereby fostering love, national pride and the spirit of learning, dedication, building the homeland and country..."

Having been with the program “Tam banh nghia tinh” for nearly 10 years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy – Head of the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development of DNU confided: “Each season has a different emotion. Every time we meet and share difficulties with difficult circumstances, we teachers and students feel how lucky and happy we are and appreciate life more...”

In the 4th year of participating in the program "The Cake of Love", Nguyen Ha Phuong - a student of the Faculty of Pharmacy said: "Although I have participated for 4 consecutive years, every year I still look forward to it because the experiences and lessons we receive from the program are so great, not found in any documents, textbooks or lecture halls..."

“From a girl who had no knowledge about the traditional Tet holiday of the nation, never wrapped Chung cake, never prepared a tray of five fruits, never experienced the space of a rural Tet market... Especially, never "joined hands" to bring Tet to the poor, now I have experienced it all. The feeling is wonderful. I don't know what to say, I can only thank the school for organizing such a meaningful program for us students to experience...” , Nguyen Ha My - a student of the Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy expressed.

This year, the Love Cake Program is organized within the framework of a Chung cake wrapping competition divided into stages, ensuring that anyone participating, whether they have wrapped Chung cake or not, understands the process of making a Chung cake.

In addition, the school also organized many fun and meaningful activities for teachers and students of Dai Nam to welcome spring such as: Recreating the space of Tet in 3 regions, Tet in the past - Tet in the present, Tet customs in Korea, Japan, China, England..., Tet market in the countryside, flower arrangement contest, fruit tray display, calligraphy by Mr. Do, folk games, health consultation activities before the new year... attracting the attention of many teachers and students in the whole school.
