Student Dang Minh Phuong: Always proud to be a student of Dai Nam University

In the Ceremony to honor the excellent graduates of universities and academies in Hanoi in 2014 at Ly Thai To monument recently, Nguyen Minh Phuong, the excellent valedictorian of the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Dai Nam University, was honored to be on that list.

With a GPA of 9.00, excellent training scores, and impressive achievements in studying and school activities, Minh Phuong became the valedictorian of Dai Nam University. The School News interviewed Phuong about this issue.

- Hello Minh Phuong, valedictorian of Dai Nam University; one of 132 excellent valedictorians honored in the "Ceremony to honor excellent valedictorians graduating from Universities and Academies in Hanoi in 2014". How do you feel?

Minh Phuong : Hello, being one of 132 valedictorians honored at the "Ceremony to honor outstanding valedictorians graduating from universities and academies in Hanoi in 2014" at Ly Thai To flower garden, I feel extremely happy, proud and moved. Besides, I feel more responsible to improve my own capacity and knowledge to be worthy of the title I was awarded and contribute to building the country.

Minh Phuong was honored to receive her diploma from the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the school - Dr. Le Dac Son.

- To achieve the results you have today, you must have worked very hard. How did you balance your time between studying and working?

Minh Phuong: Actually, I am not under pressure to work part-time to earn money. My purpose in working part-time is to accumulate practical knowledge, so that when I return to my lessons in class, I can understand the lessons more deeply, then I will study better and be more interested, not just simply acquiring knowledge from books. With such a purpose, it is clear that I need to arrange my time between studying, playing and working in the most balanced way, so that the activities can promote each other to the maximum, not that this takes up time to do other things.

- Have you ever felt inferior or lacked confidence about private universities?

Minh Phuong : To be honest with you, yes (laughs). I cannot deny this feeling when I first entered Dai Nam University (a private school). But that feeling was swept away as soon as I sat in the lecture hall, in the classes, and in extracurricular hours. I, like many other students, have received a lot of attention and dedicated guidance from the teachers in this beloved school. Teachers are not only the ones who teach and impart knowledge and experience, but also like fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters who always share with us our life experiences. In particular, at Dai Nam, we have the opportunity to go on many field trips. Experts working at banks and large companies come to teach and impart experience. At the same time, the school always organizes meaningful events and community activities to help us raise our awareness and responsibility for ourselves and society. Now, I am confident when talking about Dai Nam University, my teachers, and my friends. Dai Nam has raised me to be who I am today. I am always proud to be a student of Dai Nam University.

- How does Minh Phuong evaluate the teaching method of Dai Nam University?

Minh Phuong: I think the school's teaching method focuses more on practice. That is, after theoretical lectures, we often have field trips to grasp more clearly and in detail the knowledge in the books. Even in the lectures, interspersed with theory are very interesting examples of reality that teachers know or have experienced. That makes the lectures really real and not far away from us. In addition, Dai Nam guides students to foreign language skills, soft skills, one of the skills that are highly valued in the modern economy, which makes us more confident when stepping out into society.

- As a graduate and working student, what do you hope for DNU in the future?

Minh Phuong: I hope Dai Nam University will develop and become even more beautiful, one of the leading private universities, training quality human resources for society. Through this, I would like to once again express my deepest thanks to the teachers who have always been enthusiastic, dedicated, and "passed the fire" to us. I will try to make full use of the knowledge and skills learned at Dai Nam to become a useful person for society, so as not to disappoint the teachers.
