National High School Exam 2016: Hanoi increases the number of candidates not taking the university entrance exam

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, this year, 76,500 candidates will take the national high school exam at 6 exam clusters with 104 exam locations in Hanoi.

According to a report from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the number of candidates registering for the National High School Exam this year in Hanoi decreased by more than 8% compared to last year. In 2015, the number of candidates in Hanoi was 83,000.

The number of candidates taking the 2016 national high school exam in Hanoi decreased by 7,000 candidates compared to last year.

Mr. Ngo Van Chat, Head of the Examination Management and Quality Assurance Department, explained that the decrease in the number of candidates in Hanoi is mainly due to population fluctuations.

Mr. Chat also said that this year the number of candidates registering for the graduation exam clusters is 16,000, a significant increase compared to the number of candidates in this category last year (11,000).

Last year was the first year of organizing the national high school exam , students were not familiar with it so many of them registered for the university exam cluster. After a year of assessing their abilities, they understood clearly to choose to take the university exam cluster or the local exam cluster (for graduation only). Therefore, the number of candidates this year registering for the local exam cluster increased compared to Hanoi.

This year’s high school exam will take place from July 1-4. On June 30, students will complete exam registration procedures, receive their exam cards, and correct any errors.

This year's National High School Exams still include 8 subjects: Math, Literature, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Foreign Language. In addition to the Foreign Language subject which is written and multiple choice, the Literature subject has a reading comprehension and writing section, the remaining subjects are all multiple choice.

In Hanoi there will be 6 exam clusters:

Exam cluster No. 1: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, organized for candidates in the following districts: Hoan Kiem District, Hai Ba Trung District, Hoang Mai District, Long Bien District, Thanh Tri District, Gia Lam District, Thuong Tin District, Phu Xuyen District.

Exam cluster 2: Thuyloi University, organized for candidates in the following districts: Dong Da District, Thanh Xuan District, Ha Dong District, Thanh Oai District, My Duc District, Ung Hoa District.

Exam cluster 3: Military Technical Academy, organized for candidates in the following districts: Bac Tu Liem District, Dong Anh District, Soc Son District, Phuc Tho District, Thach That District, Quoc Oai District, Dan Phuong District, Hoai Duc District, Me Linh District.

Exam cluster 4: Hanoi National University of Education, organized for candidates in districts: Ba Dinh District, Tay Ho District, Cau Giay District, Nam Tu Liem District.

Exam cluster number 5: Forestry University, organized for candidates in districts: Son Tay Town, Ba Vi District, Chuong My District.

Exam cluster No. 6: Hanoi Department of Education and Training presides over the organization for all candidates in all districts, towns and cities who wish to use exam results only for high school graduation consideration.
