Multi-regional and multi-national Tet space and culture in the program "Banh Nghia Tinh" 2023

After 12 consecutive years, the Love Cake has become a charity program that contributes to building the brand of Dai Nam University every time Tet comes, leaving many good impressions in the community. With the theme "Spring connection, Tet sharing", the Love Cake 2023 not only reminds young people of the sacredness of the traditional Vietnamese Tet, the characteristics of Tet past and present, Tet in the 3 regions of the North - Central - South, but also "opens the door" for students to explore the culture and customs of welcoming the New Year of other countries: Korea, Japan, China, the United Kingdom... Let's witness the space and culture of Tet in many regions and countries in the Love Cake 2023 program of DNU teachers and students!
DNU teachers and students were excited and had a blast at the "Bread of Love" festival 2023.
The DNU countryside market gate is wide open with many "genuine" items, ready for teachers and students to shop for Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Teachers and students wrap banh chung together, with the wish for a new year full of abundance and love.
DNU-ER displays fruit trays and flower arrangements; ready to show off to parents on the occasion of Tet Quy Mao 2023.
Inspired by the Tet pole, the Faculty of Law brings to the festival the space of the old Vietnamese Tet with bamboo walls, reed panels, etc. The bamboo tree also reminds us of the folk story "The Hundred-Joint Young Tree" reminding everyone of the lesson of honesty and kindness, and that in the end, there will be a happy ending.
Peach blossoms, kumquat trees, Chung cakes, Tet cakes, fruit trays, paper firecrackers… are all characteristics of traditional Tet holiday, reminding children of their roots and arousing national pride in every staff, lecturer and student of Dai Nam University.
With the brilliant red color, the Faculty of Communication not only recreates a modern Tet space but also sends luck, convenience, prosperity and happiness to all teachers and students of Dai Nam University in 2023.
Tet has changed a bit but the unique cultural features are still preserved such as the custom of giving lucky money. The red, pretty lucky money envelopes are a symbol of good luck and happiness at the beginning of the year.
Tet Nguyen Dan is the traditional Tet holiday of Vietnam, but each region has its own way of celebrating Tet and its own characteristics. All of these create a 'colorful' Tet of the Vietnamese people. That is the reason why the Department of Tourism 'brings' Tet from the 3 regions of the North - Central - South to the festival "The cake of love".
Northern dishes not only show sophistication and neatness but also convey wishes for a lucky, favorable and successful new year.
The Central region's feasts are always diverse, neat and solemn, representing a prosperous and fulfilling new year.
If the Tet meal in the North is sophisticated and harmonious in color and decoration; the Central is close and rustic, the South shows richness and youthfulness, the dishes are not too stereotyped in form or choice. Normally, the Tet meal in the South will have banh tet, braised pork with eggs, pork head cheese, pickled vegetables, pickled onions, pickled pig ears, etc.
Since our ancestors opened up the Southern land, over hundreds of years, the Ao Ba Ba has become the symbol and soul of the Southern homeland.
Each Tet space is "decorated" by the Faculty of Tourism with Dong Ho folk paintings, reminding students of a unique cultural feature of the Vietnamese people, expressing the wish for a harmonious, prosperous, leisurely family life, love for people, will, and determination to rise up in life...
Students can "go back in time" to their childhood to play Chinese checkers with friends.
With tug of war, the school not only wants to promote team spirit, strengthen the bond between colleagues, teachers and students, etc., but also wants to promote the awareness of sports training in the whole school. If you don’t win this year, keep practicing, and win the prize next year!
The Department of Chinese Language and Culture took teachers and students of DNU to visit the neighboring country to celebrate the New Year. Unlike Vietnam, the fourth animal in the 12 zodiac animals of China is the “rabbit” and not the “cat”.
Red lanterns and fireworks are indispensable items on the first day of the new year in China.
Coming to the Tet space of the Chinese Language and Culture Department, students can also experience mask painting, calligraphy... and learn about traditional cultural features of China.
If you are a Chinese movie buff, you are certainly no stranger to elegant ancient costumes; helping the wearer become elegant and gentle.
Saying goodbye to China, DNU students will once again “travel” to celebrate Tet in the “Land of the Rising Sun”. Cherry blossoms, lanterns, kadomatsu (gates)… - the characteristics of the Japanese New Year are all fully and carefully prepared by the Faculty of Japanese Language and Culture.
In particular, the Japanese tea ceremony is indispensable. This is an opportunity for students to wear kimono and sit down to learn how to make and enjoy Japanese tea.
Traditional Japanese dishes such as salmon, lotus root, mushrooms, etc. are skillfully and beautifully arranged by students.
Lucky charms are eye-catchingly "decorated" with unique Japanese symbols.
The Department of Korean Language and Culture also "joined in the fun" by "shipping" Korean New Year to DNU.
Hanbok – the traditional costume that is indispensable during Tet holiday of the people of Kim Chi land. Taegeuk flag, pinwheels, masks to ward off bad luck at the beginning of the year… are all carefully and elaborately prepared by the Korean Language and Culture Department; helping visitors understand more about the traditional culture of the neighboring country.
The familiar dish of Korean people - kimbab (rice rolls) is also carefully prepared by students.
After Christmas, it is also the time for people in the foggy country to prepare for the New Year. With the theme “Royal New Year”, the English Language Department recreated a solemn and modern royal New Year space of British aristocratic families.
The duke and the princess sat down to enjoy tea and wait for guests to come and check in for Tet. It can be said that English is one of the departments that is most "spoiled" when it comes to Tet costumes, truly Royal.
The program not only brings wonderful emotions, the connection between teachers and students, new lessons and skills in life but also reminds young people of their roots, awareness of preserving and promoting national cultural traditions, the spirit of mutual love and community love; at the same time, opens the door to integration, helping them understand more about the culture and customs of celebrating Tet in countries around the world.
The cake of love - Spring of connection, Tet of sharing will certainly be an unforgettable beautiful memory for every staff, lecturer and student of Dai Nam University.
