In a solemn and inspiring atmosphere, all staff and lecturers of Dai Nam University (DNU) started the internal training program for the 2024-2025 school year with a meaningful sharing by Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice President of the University Council, Vice Principal with the topic "Identifying the portrait of Dai Nam University students and building standards for staff, lecturers and employees". With nearly 3 hours, the sharing became an important highlight, contributing to shaping substantive innovations in the approach and accompanying learners, while affirming the role of building the image of a standard teacher in the context of modern society.

Student portrait recognition

At the beginning of her sharing, Ms. Cao Thi Hoa emphasized: As a guide and an inspiration, lecturers need to understand each of their students. Grasping the student portrait not only helps teachers build good relationships but also teaches and supports students to overcome difficulties and maximize their potential.

Accordingly, Ms. Cao Thi Hoa deeply analyzed the characteristics of Gen Z generation and the insight of Dai Nam University students based on the following factors: psychology, academic ability, family circumstances, geographical characteristics and majors. The analysis clarified the challenges and opportunities in accompanying students and proposed effective "touch points" between students and teachers, faculty leaders and schools.

Not only analyzing the characteristics of Gen Z and the insights of Dai Nam University students, she also provides an overall picture of students through survey data on common "fears" and legitimate desires of students during their studies at DNU, thereby proposing practical solutions to help students overcome psychological barriers and create motivation to study more effectively.

“Identifying student profiles helps schools understand the characteristics, needs and potential of each individual, thereby personalizing education, supporting career orientation and building a positive learning environment. This not only improves the quality of training but also helps detect and promptly resolve student problems, creating a bond between students and the school. At the same time, this is also the foundation for innovating teaching methods, affirming the concern for the comprehensive development and success of students,” Ms. Hoa affirmed.

Mr. Truong Duc Thao - Head of the Faculty of Economics and Management shared: “This is a discussion content that I have never experienced at any university that I know. The presentation content shows a very serious investment in research on the characteristics of students, teachers and factors affecting the training quality of the school. The sharing of Ms. Cao Thi Hoa is really valuable, can be practically applied to the training practice for the school's students to create a better learning environment for students...”

Building the image of a standard lecturer

Building the image of a standard university lecturer is an important factor in improving the quality of education and the reputation of DNU. A standard lecturer is not only someone with extensive professional knowledge but also a moral example, inspiring students in their studies and training. This image helps build the trust of parents, students and society in the educational environment, while also motivating the teaching staff to constantly develop and improve themselves. A standard lecturer also contributes to shaping a positive school culture, encouraging students to become responsible, creative and courageous citizens in the future.

Mr. Tran Hai Duong - Head of the Korean Language and Culture Department expressed: "I was really touched by the message that Ms. Hoa shared at the training session. " Each student is a life, a future, teachers cannot stand outside that aspiration. Let's light the fire of passion in each student with all the heart and mind of a teacher..." Ms. Hoa helped me and the lecturers to have a more correct perception of our role in training and orienting students, especially the importance of constantly improving to build the image of a standard lecturer, loved and respected by generations of students..."

Distinguish clearly between "teacher," "person who teaches," and "teacher"

In the current educational context, distinguishing between the concepts of “teacher”, “person who teaches”, and “teacher” is becoming increasingly urgent. Clearly distinguishing between the concepts will help Dai Nam train and select people with the qualities to take on this noble role.

“Providing information about the differences between a teacher, a mentor and an inspiration is an important step to improve the quality of education. It helps teachers become more aware of their role, thereby making positive changes in teaching methods and creating an ideal learning environment for students,” Ms. Hoa shared.

Mr. Le The Anh - Head of the Accounting Department said: "I completely agree with the way Ms. Hoa explained these three concepts. The distinction between "teaching worker", "teacher" and "teacher" is very important to build ethical standards for the teaching profession. Ms. Hoa highlighted a fundamental issue: A lecturer is not only a person who imparts knowledge but also a person who guides and inspires students. This is a very necessary message in the current educational context."

Ms. Nguyen Ha Thu - Lecturer of the Faculty of Training and Soft Skills Development expressed her opinion: "Ms. Hoa was very tactful in pointing out that teaching is not a simple job. Distinguishing between 'teaching workers', 'teachers' and 'teachers' helps us realize that to become a true teacher, lecturers need to have a combination of knowledge, pedagogical skills and passion for the profession. These concepts help lecturers better understand their responsibilities, thereby striving to become ideal role models in the eyes of students."

The difference between old teachers and young teachers

According to Ms. Cao Thi Hoa, distinguishing the difference between older and younger lecturers is not for comparison or opposition but for the purpose of better understanding the characteristics of each group, thereby having appropriate solutions to develop a harmonious teaching staff, improve teaching quality and meet the needs of students.

Older lecturers have extensive experience and comprehensive analytical skills, while younger lecturers bring creativity and the ability to apply technology. DNU will maximize the strengths of each generation of lecturers. In addition, it creates a balance in the team. The combination of experience and innovation helps create a diverse working environment where generations of lecturers can learn from each other. When assigning work in accordance with the strengths of each group, the quality of training will be optimized. Students benefit from both modern thinking and experience, helping them have a more multi-dimensional view of learning and life...” Ms. Cao Thi Hoa analyzed.

Building a standard lecturer image through appearance

Building a standard image of a lecturer through his/her appearance is not only an aesthetic issue but also has an important meaning in building prestige and enhancing influence on students. A neat image, suitable for the educational environment, will help lecturers gain trust and respect from students, thereby improving teaching effectiveness.

The goal of building a standard teacher image is to contribute to the formation of a comprehensive personality for students. When students are exposed to positive role models, they will tend to follow and form good habits. A teacher with a neat image will be a good example for students to follow in terms of dress, behavior and attitude.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao - Lecturer of the Faculty of Training and Soft Skills Development shared: "In modern society, personal image plays an important role. Building a standard image of a lecturer not only meets the requirements of the educational environment but also conforms to the general trend of society. A lecturer with a professional image will contribute to enhancing the reputation of the education sector and attracting many young talents to the profession..."

The annual student survey also shows that most students say they feel proud to have teachers who dress neatly and politely, which makes them feel respected and want to learn more.

Regarding this issue, Ms. Dao Thi Thu Giang - Vice Principal shared: “The image of lecturers is not only about appearance but also a manifestation of professionalism, respect and concern for the profession. A neat appearance, suitable for the educational environment will create a good first impression with students, parents and the community. When teachers have a fresh appearance, neat and polite clothes, it not only shows respect for themselves and their profession but also inspires students, creating a professional and effective learning environment. Moreover, the neat image of lecturers also contributes to enhancing the reputation of the school, attracting more talented students"

Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University, affirmed: "Building the image of a standard lecturer is part of the school's strategy to improve the quality of education. We believe that a professional image will help the school attract many good students and build prestige in the community."
