At 3:00 p.m. on October 21, 2014, at the Great Hall of Dai Nam University, Phu Lam, Ha Dong, Hanoi, the preliminary round of the "First Dai Nam Student Singing Contest" took place in the joyful atmosphere of all the students.

On the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the school's founding (November 14, 2007 - November 14, 2014), Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 and the Opening Ceremony of the new school year, at the same time, to promote cultural and artistic activities; create a useful and healthy playground; contribute to the orientation of musical aesthetics, create conditions for students of the school to exchange experiences. Thereby, discovering and nurturing new factors, Dai Nam University organized the "First Dai Nam Student Singing Contest".

The competition will take place in 03 rounds. The preliminary round (Audio) will take place on October 21, 2014, the semi-final round (Staging) will take place on October 28 and the final ranking round will be held on the evening of November 14 - the exact day of the 7th anniversary of the school's founding.

The first “Dai Nam Student Singing Contest” organized by Dai Nam University attracted the attention of many students. With a total of 68 entries from the faculties and training systems of the university. In particular, the number of new students of Course 8 participating in the contest accounted for a large proportion (25 entries).

The jury of the competition includes Mr. Pham Xuan Doanh - vocal lecturer of the Central University of Art Education. Mr. Nguyen Binh - music lecturer of the Central Youth Union Training School and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University.

The judges were very impressed with the performances of Dai Nam students.

In the Preliminary Round (Sound Assessment Round), 68 contestants performed 1 song (or 2 songs depending on the judges' request) without background music. At the same time, each contestant's musical ability was also tested by feeling the melody on an organ. The judges commented on the voice quality and advised on songs suitable to the contestants' abilities. At the same time, they helped the organizers select the 24 best contestants for the Semi-finals.

According to the representative of the jury - vocal lecturer Nguyen Binh: " The quality of the preliminary round contestants is quite good and even, many of them have good voices, that is the reason why the organizing committee decided to increase from 20 contestants as planned to 24 contestants for the semi-finals".

The contestants will have to practice hard to be able to perform in the best way. The contestants promise to have a competition night dedicating quality songs to the audience.

Although it was the first time to organize, the Dai Nam Student Singing Contest attracted a large number of candidates from many training systems of the school. We believe that the careful preparation of the Organizing Committee together with the excellent candidates will create a contest that leaves a good impression on the audience.
