Mr. Phan Huy Tung (47 years old, Yen Bai) is the father of Phan Tung Duong (19 years old, Yen Bai), who is also a Pharmacy student at Dai Nam University.

Talking about his motivation to go to school, the father, Tung, shared that he wanted to continue studying and contribute to society; and his son, Duong, dreamed of becoming a doctor to save people, which was his goal from a very early age, right from when he was in high school. Therefore, after graduating from high school, Tung Duong applied for admission to the Pharmacy major.

After missing out on the Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Tung Duong did not hesitate to apply to Dai Nam University. The 10X shared: “Dai Nam University was one of the two schools I aimed for from the beginning. Through the research process, I found this school to be very dynamic and modern. I was especially impressed when students were introduced to businesses for internships and received salaries. Another reason is that my father also studied Pharmacy here…”

Tung Duong is currently a student in Pharmacy class 16.01.

“The learning environment and training quality of Pharmacy at Dai Nam University are not inferior to those of leading training institutions in Pharmacy…” That is the reason why Phan Huy Tung and his son decided to choose and study Pharmacy at Dai Nam University.

Although he was a senior, Huy Tung did not impose on his son what to study or where to study. When his son decided to pursue Pharmacy, he just sat down and analyzed so that he could make the right choice. Unexpectedly, father and son became classmates.

Being both father and son and classmates, Mr. Tung and his son have many stories to share. The distance between them has also been shortened. Mr. Tung said that the two often discuss medicine and disease prevention measures. Sometimes, he even asks his son for advice because "children today are much more agile and better than the previous generation".

Thanks to his own efforts and his son’s “advisory”, Mr. Tung recently received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Dai Nam University. He said he felt extremely touched and proud.

Efforts to realize the dream of "owning" a pharmacy

Tung Duong said that his family is a great source of motivation for him to study hard and pursue his dream. Especially his father. His father is not only a classmate but also an example of studiousness for Tung Duong to follow.

“I want to become a good pharmacist in the future, realize my dream of “owning” a chain of pharmacies and have time to research basic particles,” the 10X shared.

To do that, Tung Duong set a goal for himself: "grab" a scholarship for the next 5 years of study; say no to retaking classes and exams; seize as many opportunities as possible to practice and intern at businesses; connect with teachers and friends; expand relationships with "seniors" in the profession.

Tung Duong said he is not “afraid” of the difficulties and challenges ahead. His point of view is: “Life is always full of positivity and luck, as long as we do not give up, good things will surely come.”

Pharmacy students at Dai Nam University have the opportunity to practice with modern equipment and machinery right at school.

Mr. Huy Tung said: “I never put pressure or set standards for my child. What I expect is not much, just that my child is always happy with his choice, has a job in hand, has a good life and is a good citizen…”
