That is the policy of the School, the core value of the training program to improve the capacity of cadres, lecturers and staff for the 2023 - 2024 school year of Dai Nam University (DNU) taking place from December 8 - 16, 2023. Participating in this training program to improve the capacity of cadres, lecturers and staff, from "old trees" to young lecturers, from senior lecturers to new teachers or those who have just "joined the army" at DNU, all learned valuable knowledge about identifying student portraits; standards for cadres and lecturers of Dai Nam University; active teaching methods... After the training program, all teachers realized that: "Teachers must change to suit students, not students change to suit teachers".

The internal training program for the 2023-2024 school year takes place from December 8 to 16 with 4 major topics related to the needs of lecturers and students in the 4.0 era.

Valuable document for all DNU staff and lecturers

Mr. Pham Van Hong - Principal said: "This training session is just the first step. The school will organize many more internal training sessions, following the policy of the School Council: "Training teachers first, training students later". Teachers must constantly change to bring the best values to students, the school and society".

The sharing of Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice President, Vice Principal brings many new perspectives to teachers about students in the 4.0 era.

The lecturer was enthusiastic, the listeners were attentive.

Lecturers must upgrade every day to suit students.

Professor Hoang Duc Hanh - Head of the Faculty of Medicine shared: “In my opinion, no matter how old or experienced a teacher is, he must constantly improve and upgrade himself to suit the students. He cannot think that if he is good, he does not need to learn anymore. “Learning from a teacher is not as good as learning from friends”. Through training sessions like this, teachers will better understand what their students want, need, and their feelings, especially the differences in age and generation gap. Different professions have different student psychology and characteristics… We really need to understand them in order to be able to teach them”.

Mr. Le The Anh - Head of the Accounting Department expressed: "The lessons shared in the training program are very practical and necessary for each lecturer, helping us "realize" many things. That is, in order to convey knowledge, skills, and experience to students most effectively, teachers need to make efforts to practice, accumulate knowledge, and innovate every day. Only then can teachers open up themselves, understand the desires of Gen Z students, find suitable lectures and methods; and expand their love for the profession, for students, for the School, and for the community and society".

Mr. The Anh is happy to work in a dynamic, modern environment that always puts the interests and wishes of students first.

New staff at the school understand the "quality" of DNU

Ms. Do Thi Thu Huong - Head of Training Management Department said: “The lessons shared in this training session are very close and practical; helping teachers, especially teachers transferring from public schools and new teachers to the school, understand more about the “quality” of Dai Nam University. From there, there are changes in management and teaching work; encouraging lecturers in the faculty to change their teaching methods, communication methods with students, assessment and grading methods…”

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong not only understands the "DNA" of Dai Nam but also has a lot of experience in classroom management, self-management, active teaching methods at university,...

Mr. Chu Quang Thang - lecturer of the Chinese Language and Culture Department shared: “Participating in the capacity building training program right after returning to school is extremely meaningful to me. I believe that the knowledge that is introduced will be like a breath of fresh air blowing into each page of the lesson plan, helping students become more interested in each lesson, absorb more and more effectively the knowledge that teachers teach; creating a solid foundation for students to apply in their future lives and work. Above all, lecturers also learn many methods to better grasp students' psychology, adjust teaching activities to be appropriate and effective...”

Ms. Luong Thi Phuong Anh - Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine said: "The training program helped me better understand the characteristics of students in each major. This helps a "newbie" like me gain more practical skills in classroom management, self-management, active teaching methods... quickly integrate into the environment, apply new skills in teaching hours to make lessons lively, effective, and create excitement for students".

Teachers listened attentively and took careful notes of each sharing from the teachers in the class.

Leaders change management thinking, improve training quality

Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh Hue - Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy expressed: “For me, the internal training program has many meanings. Firstly, promoting and spreading the spirit of learning; exchanging, sharing experiences, giving away the values we have to develop together, creating a culture of mutual learning of DNU. Secondly, unifying the views on the role of the Teacher and building the portrait of the DNU Teacher. Thirdly, appreciating the elaborate, easy-to-remember, easy-to-understand lecture preparation, keeping up with the trend, associated with the reality of DNU by the teachers in the classroom. Through that, I also gained a lot of experience to apply to management work to further improve the training quality of the Faculty of Pharmacy. I hope that the School will promote more training content on DNU culture; skills, pedagogical skills; methods of constructing multiple choice questions, testing, and actively evaluating students…”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh Hue affirmed: The internal training program has promoted the spirit of learning and sharing the values we have to develop with DNU.

Must understand students to "erase" generation gap and "barriers" between teachers and students

Mr. Bui Duy Phu - lecturer of the Faculty of Logistics and Supply Chain Management said: “We are people of the previous generation, full of enthusiasm but in an academic, classical way; the old, dry teaching style... is no longer suitable for generation Z students. Limitations in the use of social networks and teaching support tools also make us "struggling" not knowing what students want, what they need to change accordingly. Thanks to practical training sessions like this, we can understand the portrait of students in the 4.0 era; "better" about teaching support tools; active teaching methods... From there, we have a clear direction for change to suit students, the School and society; eliminate all generational gaps, outdated thinking in teaching, imparting knowledge, bringing the best, most necessary things to students".

Teachers are not afraid to learn, not afraid to change to suit generation Z students.

Ms. Tran Thi Huong Giang - Deputy Director of the Center for Continuing Education in Pharmacy shared: “Age gap, environment, different perspectives on life, and different interests are “barriers” between teachers and students. In order for students not to “dislike” teachers, we must understand the student’s profile, their interests, and desires; we must also embody the students to know what learning methods they like and what communication methods are most effective. This year’s training program brings great value and is necessary for every lecturer. I feel sorry when many people come late or for personal reasons do not attend all the sharing sessions.”

Ms. Tran Thi Huong Giang feels "younger" when she transforms into a student.

Regret for missing valuable sharing sessions

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly - a lecturer of the Nursing Faculty shared: “Before, I always thought that I was a young lecturer, close to Gen Z, so I would understand students very well. But that is not the case. After Ms. Hoa's training session, I "broke out" many things, and understood the characteristics of Dai Nam students in general and the Nursing Faculty in particular. From there, there were changes in teaching, management, consulting or care suitable for each different group of students. Especially becoming a coach who accompanies, guides, inspires, listens and respects the opinions of students instead of just a lecturer imparting knowledge. For personal reasons, I could not attend the remaining training sessions, I felt extremely regretful. I asked for documents and asked for more experiences from the teachers so as not to completely miss those valuable shares".

“Enlightenment” of the view “Teaching is not about puzzling students…”

Ms. Phan Thi Thuy - lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration expressed: "Thanks to the training sessions, I "realized" a point of view: "Teaching is not about challenging students but understanding students to have appropriate methods". I realized that I need to put myself in the students' shoes, understand their wishes and desires to make adjustments in the lectures, how to make the communication effective, remaining in their minds for the longest time".

Training content is relevant and necessary for every instructor.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Huy - lecturer of the Faculty of Tourism said: "The most impressive thing is that the teachers in the class have very engaging ways of sharing, not literary, flowery, very practical, correct and in line with the current educational orientation. The sharing of Ms. Hoa, Ms. Huong, Ms. Thuy helps me have more basis and ideas in classroom management, adjusting lectures to suit the needs, interests and desires of students".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Thu - Lecturer of the Faculty of Soft Skills Training and Development shared: "After the sharing session, I have a deeper understanding of the characteristics of students in each major, a better understanding of the behavioral and communication culture of Gen Z students, a better understanding of the characteristics of Dai Nam University students as well as their assessments and feelings about their teachers, thereby having the awareness to change themselves."

Ms. Ha Thu affirmed: The training program not only enhances expertise and skills but also promotes the spirit of solidarity, attachment and sharing among school members.

Admire the lifelong learning spirit of DNU teachers

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Head of the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development, a young lecturer trusted by the School's leaders to be responsible for sharing about the topics "Teaching at Dai Nam University" and "Lecture Slide Design Skills" expressed: "One thing I always respect and admire about DNU teachers is the spirit of continuous learning and innovation. Teachers are enthusiastic, enthusiastic, positive, humorous, witty, debate intensely, discuss fiercely; especially teachers with "labels", their age makes me really respect and appreciate that spirit of lifelong learning. I am grateful to work at a wonderful school with a great Board of Directors and a team of wonderful staff, lecturers and employees".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy admires the spirit of continuous learning and readiness to innovate of DNU teachers.

The training program not only helps staff and lecturers improve their professional qualifications and gain more useful knowledge to support their teaching, but also helps connect each individual with the school, maximize the potential, creativity and autonomy of every individual working and teaching at the school; all for the goal of constantly improving the quality of training and constantly growing Dai Nam University.
