Dai Nam University hosts an academic competition for Chinese language students in Hanoi.

Thoroughly applying the training motto of combining theory with practical practice, thereby creating conditions for connecting students from universities and academies nationwide to exchange and learn through highly academic intellectual playgrounds; recently, the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture of Dai Nam University organized the "Chinese Stage Arts 2023" competition. The competition brings together prestigious Chinese language training schools in Hanoi.

Attending the program, on behalf of Dai Nam University, there were: Representatives of the Board of Directors; leaders, staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture.

On the guest and competition teams side, there were: Representatives of leaders, lecturers and students of Chinese language department of Foreign Language University - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Hanoi University, Foreign Trade University, University of Commerce, Hanoi University of Industry.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Dinh Quang Hung - Vice Principal of Dai Nam University said: Chinese language is a key subject of Dai Nam University with a large number of applications for admission each year. The training program at the Faculty is strictly inspected, ensuring that students develop comprehensively, have solid knowledge, good skills, and good attitudes.

During the study period, students have the opportunity to practice and intern with salaries at leading domestic enterprises such as: Best Pacifi Company (supporting living expenses and accommodation up to nearly 5 million VND/month); Jinko Solar Company (supporting living expenses and providing meal cards up to 5 million VND/month); Hoa Loi Dat Texhong Company (supporting living expenses up to nearly 3 million VND/month, free accommodation and transportation).

In addition, students can also participate in summer camps, courses abroad or online with foreign experts/students such as: Shenyang University, Beijing University... Participate in academic competitions inside and outside the school to practice foreign languages, Chinese skills; expand connections, exchange with students of leading universities and academies in Chinese training in Vietnam.

Mr. Dinh Quang Hung said: Dai Nam University continuously organizes academic competitions like this in all faculties in the school to create a useful playground for students inside and outside the school.

“The 2023 Chinese Drama Competition is a highly academic intellectual playground for the Chinese language student community in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general. Thereby, it affirms the bravery, talent, and Chinese language ability of Dai Nam University students that are not inferior to any other training institution,” emphasized Mr. Dinh Quang Hung.

At the program, the teams staged 6 famous works from China and Vietnam such as Chi Pheo, the old fisherman and the golden fish, Pre-Life and Future, the story of a bundle of chopsticks, the star fruit tree, and the Tale of Kieu. With their talent, courage, flexible acting, and “extremely good” Chinese speaking ability, the 6 teams made the whole hall admire and marvel.

Opening the competition, a group of students from the Chinese Language Department, School of Foreign Languages and Tourism, Hanoi University of Industry performed the play “Tan Chi Pheo”. Through that, they conveyed the message “Love can heal all wounds, can transform people, help people live more beautifully, more honestly and altruistically”.

A group of students from Dai Nam University brought the famous story “The old fisherman and the goldfish”. Through sharp words and natural, close acting, the young people wanted to convey the advice: “You should know when to stop in everything, don’t be too greedy. Know how to stand on your own two feet.”

“Previous life and present life” is a skit that talented students from Hanoi University brought to the contest. The play is based on the folk tale “The Legend of the White Snake”, telling the story of a forbidden love between a human and a demon. The word love is permeated but cannot be stubborn because the two are not of the same gender, the human and the demon cannot be together.

The play of the University of Commerce is excerpted and adapted from the famous work The Tale of Kieu by Nguyen Du. Although her life has fallen to rock bottom, Thuy Kieu refuses to submit to fate. She bravely faces hardship and struggles to gain her freedom.

The team from the University of Languages and International Studies - Vietnam National University, Hanoi brought a familiar story to Vietnamese people - "The story of a bundle of chopsticks". A single chopstick can be easily broken, but a bundle of chopsticks cannot. It is the message of solidarity: "Unity is strength".

The group of students from Foreign Trade University closed the competition with the play “The Starfruit Tree”. Through it is a lesson about drinking water, remembering its source; people should not be too greedy, must know when to stop.

Dr. Vu Thi Ha - Head of the Department of Chinese Language and Culture, Dai Nam University, awarded the first prize to the team of the University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Second prize went to the team of Dai Nam University and Hanoi University of Industry.

Third prize was awarded to the teams of Hanoi University and Foreign Trade University.

University of Commerce won the Encouragement Prize.

To create a dynamic learning environment, combining theory with practice, connecting and expanding the Chinese-loving community, the Department of Chinese Language and Culture, Dai Nam University will continue to organize academic intellectual playgrounds such as: Chinese Spelling, Chinese Theatre Arts, Chinese Language Festival... in the near future.
