With the desire to connect businesses, orient careers, help students have a comprehensive view of careers, especially the profession of Translation and Interpretation - a hot job with attractive income today; recently, the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture organized a discussion "Outstanding issues for those who want to try their hand at the translation and interpretation profession in Hanoi and neighboring cities". The program received great attention from students of Dai Nam University.

The program's speaker is MSc. Nguyen Giang Linh - Head of Children's Department, Nha Nam Culture and Communication Company; has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Chinese translation and interpretation; translator of more than 50 books.

At the seminar, speaker Nguyen Linh Giang affirmed: Chinese translation and interpretation is a profession that "never lacks space for growth". Firstly, China is a developed country and large Chinese corporations are "expanding" globally. Secondly, in the Vietnamese market, Chinese enterprises account for a very high proportion. To facilitate communication and successful cooperation with partners, these enterprises cannot lack the support of translators and interpreters.

The income level of this industry is also extremely attractive. For new graduates, it ranges from 12-15 million VND/month. This number can increase to 25-30 million/month for those with over 1 year of experience. In particular, students can try their hand at this job right in school and receive an hourly translation salary ranging from 1-2 million VND.

Students can “live well” in domestic and foreign enterprises, branches of Chinese enterprises in Vietnam, Chinese joint ventures; government and non-government organizations… in big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong and neighboring cities.

MSc. Nguyen Linh Giang shared about the development potential and career opportunities of Chinese translation and interpretation with students of Chinese Language Department, Dai Nam University.

In response to the question “How to become a good translator and interpreter in the future” , speaker Linh Giang stated: Students must regularly cultivate and practice language skills; update knowledge about the profession, culture and society of China and Vietnam; practice and develop soft skills (communication, presentation, professional working attitude, etc.); practice a pleasant, expressive voice, and standard pronunciation.

Students actively asked questions to the speaker.

In particular, young people must demonstrate a spirit of progress, a desire to learn and prove their abilities to partners, colleagues and superiors.

“Chinese translation and interpretation is a lucrative profession with many opportunities. However, to pursue this career, in addition to having Chinese language skills, you must also cultivate a passion for the profession and constantly improve and practice. Only then can you stand firm and advance in the profession,” said the speaker.

Actively interacting with guests, students receive "hot rewards".

Sharing after the discussion, Pham Thi Ngoc Ha - student of class TT 15.04 expressed: "Through the program, I have acquired a lot of knowledge related to the major I am studying. I know what knowledge and skills I need to equip myself with to be able to "live well" with the translation and interpretation profession in the future."

The seminar “Outstanding issues for young people who want to try their hand at translation and interpretation in Hanoi and neighboring cities” was successfully held; providing an overview of the profession, knowledge, skills and lessons learned for students majoring in Chinese Language, Dai Nam University.
