Cafef.vn - University in Hanoi increases target for majors with salary of 1.3 billion/year

Semiconductor technology plays a key role in the 4.0 industrial revolution. Anticipating the need for human resources, Dai Nam University (school code DDN) expands enrollment quotas for the Semiconductor Technology major, promoting international cooperation to train a generation of global standard engineers - ready to join the world's high-tech supply chain.
Industry "thirsty" for human resources, income up to 1.3 billion VND/year
According to IC Insights, the global semiconductor industry's human resource demand will grow at double-digit rates each year during the 2025–2035 period.
In Vietnam, this is considered a strategic industry. Many large corporations such as Intel, Samsung, Amkor, Hana Micron… have been accelerating investment and expanding production, leading to the need to recruit thousands of engineers each year.
It is forecasted that in the next 5 years, Vietnam will need about 20,000 microchip and semiconductor engineers. This number will increase to 50,000 people in the next 10 years. However, currently, the human resource is only about 5,000 people - meeting about 20% of the demand.
Survey shows that: students majoring in microchips and semiconductors can earn from 215 to 500 million VND/year after graduation. For good engineers with seniority, the income can exceed 1.3 billion VND/year.
International training model – Globally recognized degrees
With the advantage of flexible joint training programs, attractive scholarship policies and professional support from excellent experts from leading technology schools and enterprises in Taiwan (China), DNU officially opened a human resource training program in Semiconductor Technology and officially enrolled students from the 2024-2025 school year.
The demand for high-quality semiconductor technology human resources is very large. Currently, Vietnam can only meet 20% of the demand.
In the 2025-2026 school year, expand enrollment quotas for the Semiconductor Technology major, while promoting international cooperation to train a generation of global standard engineers - ready to join the world's high-tech supply chain.
The highlight of the program is that students can study in an international environment right in Vietnam, at a reasonable cost but still have access to modern knowledge, updated curriculum, and co-teaching by Vietnamese and Taiwanese lecturers.
Students receive international degrees that are globally valuable; participate in internships at large technology corporations with incomes of up to 1,000 USD/month; and have the opportunity to receive scholarships and tuition support from partner schools and the Taiwanese Government.
Semiconductor Technology Transfer Center – A space for learning and research
One of the highlights in the semiconductor industry development strategy at Dai Nam University is the establishment of the Semiconductor Technology Transfer Center - a place that integrates laboratory systems, simulates the design process, manufactures microchips and tests semiconductor products.
Here, students have access to international standard equipment and practice specialized courses such as:
Digital system design, integrated circuit design
Computer programming and digital logic
Analog and digital electronic circuits
Electronic circuit board design
Physics and semiconductors
At the same time, students have the opportunity to participate in research topics and technology transfer projects with lecturers and leading experts from Vietnam and internationally. The training model combining theory and practice helps students be ready to work immediately after graduation.
Dai Nam University chooses its own direction in training in Semiconductor Technology: International training cooperation - granting Taiwanese degrees.
Wide open career opportunities – Expanding the target by 2025
According to a representative of Dai Nam University, in the 2025 school year, the school will expand enrollment quotas for the Semiconductor Technology major and prioritize candidates with career development orientation in the high-tech field, innovative thinking and foreign language proficiency.
In addition to the training program, students are also accompanied by a wide network of cooperative businesses, supporting internships, recruitment and career orientation from the second year.
Study semiconductors – get ahead of the future
Vietnam is on its way to becoming a new semiconductor manufacturing hub in Asia. With investment policies and FDI attraction in this field, opportunities for students majoring in Semiconductor Technology have never been so open.
With strategic orientation, systematic training programs, international degrees and strong business connections, Dai Nam University is affirming its pioneering role in preparing human resources for the key industries of the future.
