Why do doctors have to have a "cool head" and a "warm heart"?

When it comes to doctors, people immediately think of the prestige of the profession of Heart and Virtue, of high remuneration... and also the painful problems that occur every day, every hour in the medical industry. Very few people think of the hardships and silent sacrifices of doctors and sympathize and share with them. Very few people also know that, in order to stick with and be attached to the profession, they need to have a cool head and a warm heart.
"Cool head" to overcome all circumstances
Medicine is always a field of study that attracts the attention of young people before choosing a major and school.
Where there is an epidemic, disease, disaster, pain, and death, everyone runs to and only medical staff run to. Many people take it for granted that this is the responsibility of medical staff, and there is nothing to argue about.
The nature of the medical profession is to come into contact with and work daily with both physical and mental pain of people. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics are the ones who have to witness the tragedies of life every day, every hour. When illness, disaster, pain, and death are present in every bite of food and sleep, how many people have enough time, enough coldness, enough indifference to not feel pain and sorrow?
Seeing patients writhing in pain every day because of illness is a nightmare that every medical professional must overcome in order not to lose their will. They must have a cool head to overcome constant fears, to stick with this profession for a long time.
Because it is a special field of study, people studying medicine need to have qualities suitable for this profession.
Doctors, nurses, and paramedics are always in constant fear. Because medical accidents beyond the control of doctors can happen at any time. However, not all patients' families understand and sympathize. It is not uncommon for doctors and medical staff to be assaulted, cursed, and caused chaos by patients' families. Then, when there are many patients, medical staff cannot handle the situation and are harassed and cursed by patients' families, making the work even more difficult and stressful. Or the "envelopes" of bribes from patients also make medical professionals confused, embarrassed, and even feel offended...
Medical students need to have a cool head and a warm heart to stick with and dedicate themselves to the profession for life.
To stay strong in the medical profession, the essential thing is not only expertise, qualifications, passion, but the doctor must also be brave enough, cool enough and not be too sensitive. A cool head to always be alert and rational in diagnosis and treatment. A cool head to always have a steady, cool hand before each surgery and each needle and thread. A cool head to surpass oneself, to endure the pressure of work, to study, research and develop oneself, to devote one's life to the mission of saving people.
Warm heart to sympathize and share
Everyone knows that each person has only one parent and one family member, but doctors and nurses examine hundreds of patients a day, so they can easily become numb to the pain and worries of patients and their families. However, if they only use that cool head to examine and treat patients, it is really insensitive. Doctors and nurses, in addition to focusing on their expertise to treat patients, also need a warm heart to sympathize and share the pain of illness as well as the feelings of pity or worry for patients' families.
The Faculty of Medicine is one of the key faculties, which Dai Nam University especially focuses on investing and developing.
All those who choose to wear a white coat and recite the Hippocratic Oath at their graduation ceremony are aware that medicine is a noble profession of saving lives. Doctors not only help heal physical pain but also soothe mental pain, instill in patients faith, will, determination and desire to live. That will and determination will help patients have a strong desire to live and overcome illness. To do that, doctors need to know how to put themselves in the patient's shoes, consider patients as their own relatives to care for them, be tolerant, generous and kind.
The Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University has the mission of training a team of medical doctors with heart, virtue and good expertise; capable of meeting the needs of employers in hospitals and facilities to protect and care for people's health.
What would life be like without doctors?
During the past few months, the entire Vietnamese healthcare system has been under pressure to prevent and fight the Covid-19 pandemic. At the frontline of the pandemic, doctors and nurses are on duty 24/7, treating existing patients, receiving new cases, and constantly consulting to come up with appropriate treatment plans for severe cases. Not only that, they also have to take on many additional tasks such as controlling body temperature, reminding people to follow recommendations for disease prevention and control, and some doctors and medical staff even carry and coordinate medical supplies and goods for treatment and disease prevention and control.
The training program of the Medical sector is built according to CDIO, based on the medical doctor competency standards issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, and at the same time meets the needs of integration into the regional and world high-level medical human resource market.
Overloaded work, working continuously without days off, and the risk of infection at any time are realities that have been and are happening at Covid-19 patient treatment facilities. Here, doctors and nurses understand that they and their colleagues must be at the forefront of the battle against Covid-19. Many doctors and nurses, and medical students have volunteered to go to epidemic areas, accepting the risks and dangers.
What would life be like without doctors? How would the Covid-19 pandemic sweep through humanity without doctors? Therefore, we need to have a more humane and tolerant view of doctors and medical staff.
