Bill Gates: "I failed some finals, but my friend passed them all. Now he's an engineer at Microsoft, and I'm the owner of Microsoft."
Former US President George W. Bush was never highly regarded for his public speaking ability, but he promptly made his mark when he delivered a profound and meaningful speech at the graduation ceremony of Southern Methodist University students.
" To the young people who graduated this afternoon with high scores and good academic performance, I say, 'Well done,'" he said.
And I also give this compliment to the average students: You, too, can become president. "
With this statement, former President Bush was making fun of himself as he himself had very poor grades in college. However, to this day - the former President of the United States is one of the most classic examples of how grades in school do not determine your future, as well as a testament to a life full of endless possibilities.

And whether you like Bush or not, you cannot deny that what he said in the above speech is completely correct. In fact, there are many other names in the history of American presidents who were also very bad at studying, such as John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Bush's father - former president George H.W. Bush. Besides the list of "badly educated" leaders of the world's number one power, we can also mention successful businessmen; people who did not let the echoes of school stop them from conquering the pinnacle of glory.
The first notable names include Steve Jobs, who never finished college – as did Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. Similar cases include the world’s youngest female billionaire, Elizabeth Holmes, who continues to inspire a medical revolution, who dropped out of Stanford University to pursue her dream. Then there’s Richard Branson, who suffers from dyslexia and dropped out of school at 15.

Listen to renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse say it in his speech at the University of Massachusetts Amherst:
" Your grades, also known as GPA (grade point average), will gradually become outdated and not keep up with the ever-changing pace of your life. Remember that life does not ask or need you to show your GPA to get a good job or a high salary. GPA is really important when you are in school, and - period!".
In the end, GPA will never be the factor that can shape your future life to be happy or miserable.
Intelligence is a subjective factor, and academic achievement is not an accurate way to measure it.
The success of a student or college student is based on his or her ability to adapt to a fixed system - and a fixed system, of course, can never match the unpredictable changes of the outside world day by day.
A person’s character, experiences, relationships—and certainly never their grades—are what will shape their lives. Success requires passion, perseverance, emotional intelligence, and the ability to understand and appreciate failure. This is why we see so many average students, C-graders, and people who are least likely to believe in running the world. They are the individuals who understand struggle best, and have often experienced more ups and downs and challenges than the average person can see.
But I'm not saying that you will be successful if you do extremely poorly in school, but even if you do excel in school - don't think that you will "do well" when you enter the world. Grades are just temporary letters distributed on a page, but real success is what you do that makes the world change and is recognized.
So, if you happen to graduate from college or high school with average grades, don’t be discouraged. Life is full of unpredictable changes that come with different ups and downs. And you may not believe it, but real education only begins after you leave school and start your journey into life.
Never stop learning, never give up and always enjoy every moment of your life's journey ."
