In addition to studying theory in the classroom, Nursing students will learn clinical practice at the Skinlab at school and do clinical internships at the hospital.

So, when doing clinical internship at the hospital, what should nursing students pay attention to?

Currently, the training program of Dai Nam University has been adjusted. The practical study time accounts for 50%. With such practical time, graduates will meet the Basic Competency Standards of Vietnamese Nursing; have the awareness to serve the people; have health and thinking ability; work independently and coordinate, self-study and scientific research, career management and development, and be responsible for meeting the needs of care, protection and health improvement for individuals, families and communities in a safe, timely, continuous and effective manner.

From the third year, Dai Nam University students will be scheduled by the school to do clinical internships at hospitals such as: Xanh - Pon Hospital, Ha Dong General Hospital, Thanh Nhan Hospital, Central Psychiatric Hospital... The purpose of clinical internships is to help students consolidate specialized knowledge, improve skills, and cultivate communication skills in the industry. Therefore, it is very important for students to equip themselves with experience as well as understand the rules of clinical internships. This period of time will help students accumulate a lot of experience in the profession as well as the process of communicating with patients and colleagues.

What should students pay attention to when doing clinical internship at the hospital?

1. Time regulations: Interns in clinical departments must comply with the school's regulations on internship time: morning from 7:30 to 12:00, afternoon from 13:30 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday every week. On duty according to the hospital's assignment.

2. Dress code: Students going on internships must wear the required professional uniform: white blouse, white pants, medical cap, no slippers. Students must wear a name tag (student card) when going on internships. Hair must be neat, no long nails, no nail polish, no jewelry, no blouse outside the hospital area.

3. Comply with hospital and internship department rules and regulations, follow the assignments of the group leader and lecturer, and do not laugh or joke in the hospital.

4. Have a proper attitude towards lecturers, medical staff, classmates, and be united in helping your classmates in their studies. Have a caring, enthusiastic, quick, and ready attitude to help patients and their families.

5. Attend school regularly, on time, and in proper attire according to regulations.

6. Strictly implement hospital infection control regulations and maintain general hygiene and order.

7. During clinical hours, you must stay in your assigned position, do not use cell phones, do not stay in the classroom, do not gather, stand, or sit in the hallway.

8. Comply with clinical training regulations; have a clinical handbook, fulfill professional standards, complete all care plans and assigned exercises during the clinical internship.

9. Maintain and keep the clinical classroom clean. Strictly follow the regulations of the hospital and department where you are practicing. Please note that you need to limit the use of your phone during your practice, go to class and be on duty on time. Absolutely do not miss any duty session.

10. Review the theory of diseases in your department: When you do an internship, you will realize how different reality is from theory. This is fundamental for you to have solid knowledge to apply in practice with patients.

11. The hospital is a quiet place: Patients need to rest, medical staff also need to concentrate on their work, so do not discuss lessons or cause disorder that affects others.

12. Never refuse to help a patient: If they ask, call a nurse or doctor. Most importantly, wherever you go, you should only do your job properly. Don't be too enthusiastic to avoid doing the wrong thing or going beyond your ability, leading to unpredictable consequences.

13. Don't forget to wear a medical mask: This is an indispensable item for any doctor, nurse, caregiver or person working in a hospital, it is an important item because the hospital is a place where infections are very easy to spread, such as respiratory diseases. So remember to wear a medical mask to protect yourself.

14. Be patient in observing and learning from those in charge: Internship at the hospital is a golden time for students to ask, learn and observe the most practical things. From bookkeeping, monitoring, examining or communicating, treating patients with those in charge, the seniors will help you expand and consolidate a lot of useful knowledge.

15. Take notes every day: At the end of each day, students need to take notes of what they learned during the day to avoid forgetting and to have documents to use later.

16. Remember to wear gloves when working: When in contact with patients or performing injections, medical examinations and treatment... you must wear gloves to avoid spreading diseases, ensuring safety for yourself and those around you.
