According to statistics from the Department of Vocational Education - Colleges and Universities under the Department of Education and Training, only 5% of students have knowledge about the major they choose to study, 20% have a relative understanding and up to 75% lack knowledge about the major they choose. This means that most students choose based on their feelings without fully understanding the nature of the career as well as job prospects after graduation. Therefore, parents should attend career guidance sessions with their children, learn together to give the most accurate and convincing advice.

Most students choose a career without guidance.
Career experts believe that to have a suitable career, you must satisfy all three peaks of the career triangle. The first peak is passion, wanting to live with that career for life, wanting to have the motivation to practice your expertise, you must have love and motivation. The second peak is capacity; that is your own ability and strength. Choosing a career is also choosing a living environment for your potential. If you are a camel, you must find the desert; if you are a fish, you must live in water... That means the career must match your potential. As for the peak of capacity, it is not only talent, but also the ability to study and the financial capacity of the family. The third peak is career opportunities, the first of which is job opportunities or self-employment. In which, parents - the people closest to and who understand their children the best - will be the ones to guide their children's steps.

Triangle of choosing a career for children
In developed countries, students from primary and secondary school have learned about future careers through practical approaches at production facilities, factories, businesses, laboratories, etc. Career counselors believe that touching reality is the most effective way of career orientation that parents need to equip themselves for their children and cannot wait for schools or anyone else.
Lacking information and effective tools as a basis for career orientation for their children, many parents have not had timely impacts and have fallen into the situation of watching their children "swim" among uncertain choices. In addition to identifying their children's personalities, skills and values, parents also need to be proactive in finding out information about training professions; the requirements of employers for candidates to get a good job after graduation.
