The Covid-19 pandemic has, is, and will continue to impact young people's career choices.

The growing role and demand for human resources in the health sector makes candidates feel secure in choosing the health sector.

Nguyen Quynh Trang, a 12th grade student at Luong The Vinh High School (Hanoi) shared: “My parents are doctors, so since I was little I wanted to follow in their footsteps. Especially since the Covid-19 pandemic appeared, I have been even more motivated to study medicine. I want to contribute my efforts to the care and protection of people's health. Besides, the demand for human resources in the health sector is increasing, so I am very confident in my choice.”

Dai Nam University has participated in training high-quality human resources for the healthcare sector since 2013 with 3 majors: Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, attracting thousands of students.

Since grade 10, Truong Khanh Huyen - Yen Phong High School (Bac Ninh) was oriented by her family to study Korean language to work in Korean companies in the industrial park near her home. However, when the Covid-19 epidemic appeared, Khanh Huyen changed her direction to review group B to take the entrance exam to medical and pharmaceutical schools. "Covid-19 is affecting most professions, but only the medical industry is not affected, even the demand for human resources is greater, there are more development opportunities. Studying medicine and pharmacy not only helps me gain knowledge to protect my health, my family's and the community's health, but also not worry about unemployment..." Khanh Huyen said.

As a core training axis, the Health block is specially invested in development by Dai Nam University.

Sharing with us, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien - Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Department of Dai Nam University said : “Along with the development of the socio-economy, the disease model of Vietnamese people has been changing. Besides infectious diseases, the rate of non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, mental health, etc. is increasing rapidly, requiring a huge demand for human resources in the health sector. The Covid-19 pandemic shows us how great the need for medical staff is as well as their role, hard work, and silent sacrifices in caring for and protecting people's health. However, do not forget, coming to the medical profession, not only is there glory but also has to face countless difficulties and hardships, but this is forever the most noble profession among the noble professions”.

Students of Dai Nam Health Faculty experience an updated and modern training program; a team of excellent lecturers with rich practical experience; the most modern practice and experimental equipment; business internships, hospital clinical practice, etc.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Dien - Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dai Nam University, commented: “In the context of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the healthcare system and its accompanying services will always be of primary concern. Research in the healthcare sector will increasingly receive huge investments not only from private companies but also from governments. In addition, from an objective perspective, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists are luckier because they do not fall into unemployment like many other professions. And no matter how the economy, politics, and society change, it will not affect the role and function of the healthcare sector too much…”
