What do parents need from their children?

Unlike many young people, Tet is a time to relax and travel to reset themselves, Tet for fathers and mothers is a moment of family reunion and gathering. For them, Tet would not be complete without the moment when the whole family gathers around the New Year's Eve dinner, watches Tao Quan, and waits for the moment of transition from the old year to the new year... Tet for parents only truly begins when their children who are far away from home return.

When the seasons change, the spring air begins to permeate people’s hearts, which is also the time when parents look forward to their children returning home to reunite. Knowing for sure that their children will return, but every time they call, parents ask: “When will you have a day off? When will you come back? Have you booked a car yet?” … Also because parents miss their children. The calendar pages are running out, why haven’t you come back yet?

My parents didn’t buy much for the whole year in the countryside. Food was even simpler because “there were only two of us, so we couldn’t eat much.” But as soon as they heard that their children were home, the dinner tray was filled with their favorite dishes. In the days leading up to Tet, my parents “saved” enough beef jerky, dried buffalo meat, candies, and Tet jams… Those weren’t the things my parents liked, but they were the dishes my children loved. My parents only wanted to give everything to their children.

A happy family and healthy, happy children are the greatest wishes of parents.

When you come home, you can't help your parents much, nor bring them much achievement or reward. That's okay. Because what your parents want is to be with you for a long time, to witness you living a happy and healthy life.

Parents' Tet is simply like that, always there, waiting for their children to return, to be present in this house after a year away. Parents' Tet would not be complete without their children. Parents' Tet is their children.

You have a whole life to experience, but your whole life your parents only revolve around you.

Coming home to gather, but only seeing parents for a few hours each day. After Tet holiday, packing up and going back to school. When colleagues, teachers, and friends ask if Tet is fun, they quickly answer: "Tet is boring". Not having time to sit down and eat with family, telling each other stories of the year, sharing plans for the new year, so the emotions of Tet are not retained.

Your parents also understand that you need time to relax, rest, and explore here and there. But my child, you have a whole life to experience, but your parents' whole life revolves around you. Your parents have taken care of you since you were a baby, until you passed the university entrance exam, when you began to leave your father's and mother's arms.

Missing you, I can only “see” and talk to you through the phone screen. Tet is the only time the whole family can gather. Parents hope you can put aside all your “fun” to be with your parents for the entire Tet holiday, like when you were little.

I know my parents have many difficulties and pressures, but they never say anything because they are afraid that I will worry when I am far away. I know my parents always "struggle" to support me, becoming a place for me to "go and return" after a year of wandering, when my "suitcase of life" is heavy with experiences and lessons.

I understand that my parents always need my presence, need me to come back every time Tet comes and Spring comes; need me to ask, comfort, encourage, even though the answer afterwards will be: "Parents are fine. Parents are fine".

Years have passed, I no longer say: “I love you, Mom and Dad” . But in my heart, family is still a peaceful place, my parents are still the people I love the most in this life. I also understand that Tet is a moment when the whole family gathers around the dinner table, welcoming the New Year together… Because I understand, this year, I want to give my parents the most complete Tet.

I will put aside gatherings to go shopping for Tet with my mother and clean the house with my father. This year, my parents will surely be surprised when I do not “avoid” wrapping banh chung, arranging the fruit tray or arranging flowers. At school, I have learned and mastered these tasks. The cakes I wrapped are even given to people in difficult circumstances by the school.

The good deeds I have done are like a gift to my parents.

I will visit everyone with my parents, cook and gather around the family dinner table. I will also tell my parents more about my life away from home and my plans for the new year 2023. Among them, asking about and often saying loving words to my parents are my top plans.
