What benefits does Dai Nam University's different physical education bring to students?

From the 2022-2023 school year, in order to create a dynamic and comfortable learning environment for students, Dai Nam University has innovated the Physical Education training program. Accordingly, students can choose subjects that 'rarely appear' in the school physical education program, such as: Yoga, Dance, Self-defense... to practice and develop comprehensively in terms of physical and mental health, increase flexibility, endurance, increase confidence and increase self-defense ability.
The school yard is bustling with laughter of teachers and students during physical education classes.
What makes the DNU Physical Education program different?
The duration of the Physical Education training program of Dai Nam University is designed to shorten the theoretical training time and increase the practice time. Accordingly, students must accumulate 03 Physical Education credits. Of which, credit 1 is a compulsory subject with 15 hours of theory. Credits 2 and 3 are elective sports with 60 hours of practice.
Students can choose to study martial arts, yoga, dance, etc. instead of compulsory sports like before. That means students can choose the content that suits their abilities, needs and strengths. From there, they can improve their physical strength, learning results and can apply it to daily life.
DNU students are equipped with self-defense martial arts right at school.
In addition, the content of the Physical Education program still ensures physical exercises, movement exercises through games, multi-purpose exercises with specialized exercise tools... bringing novelty and excitement to students during the learning process.
Why Self Defense, Yoga, Dance?
Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong - Vice Principal of Dai Nam University said: The elective subjects in the Physical Education training program are all carefully considered and selected by the Board of Directors, according to 04 criteria: Ensuring comprehensive physical, mental and intellectual development for learners; suitable for the development trend of society; "hitting" and "correct" the wishes and needs of students; can be applied to life and easily practiced at home.
“Self-defense, Yoga, and Dance are not only sports that improve health and physical strength, but also help practitioners have a slim, toned body. This is something that today's youth really need,” said Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong.
Self-defense, Yoga, and Dance not only help students improve their health and fitness, but also help them have a toned, flexible body.
For Martial Arts, students will learn punching, kicking, blocking, grappling, leg strikes, chokeholds, etc. and learn self-defense techniques that can be applied in life. This subject not only trains health, improves flexibility and courage, but also helps male and female students feel more secure when going out. Especially when most students live far from their families and have to face many traps: robbery, snatching, theft, pedophilia, etc.
To avoid the subject being dry and boring, Self-Defense classes are often flexibly combined with sparring, playing games, practicing martial arts with music, etc. Thereby connecting solidarity, team spirit and the ability to absorb and remember martial arts movements.
Students are carefully instructed on how to punch, strike, and move down...
Ensure that by the end of the course, all students are equipped with basic defense skills.
By enrolling in Yoga at Dai Nam University, students will be guided by a team of experienced instructors who used to be National Yoga referees. This course will help students improve their physical strength and physique, increase their body's flexibility and suppleness, avoid shoulder and back pain due to sitting for too long; relieve daily stress and pressure...
With the Yoga exercises learned at school, students can practice at home. Moreover, they can also guide their relatives and friends to increase their motivation and inspiration to practice Yoga.
“Thanks to the dedicated guidance of my teachers, I learned how to breathe and release my body. After the Yoga class, I feel much healthier and more flexible,” shared Le Thi Thu, a student of Pharmacy class 14.04.
Yoga will help students improve their physical strength, physique, and increase the body's flexibility and suppleness.
For Dance, this semester students will practice Zumba Dance on vibrant Latin music, including strong and attractive dance moves. Each dance class is always a lively, happy atmosphere,... Therefore, this subject will help students relax and relieve stress very effectively.
During the course, students are divided into teams to practice, choreograph their own ideas, perform and participate in dance competitions.
Where do DNU students study and exercise?
Not only investing in the system of practice rooms, Dai Nam University students are also developed comprehensively in terms of physical and mental health with the system of physical buildings, soccer fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts... right on campus. The physical building with a construction area of 1160m2 allows training in many sports at the same time. The spacious, clean and beautiful playground system ensures to serve students' activities and relaxation after stressful and enthusiastic training hours.
In addition, every year, Dai Nam University reviews the quality of learning tools and adds new technological equipment to support students' learning and training.
