According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the temperature in the North during the Lunar New Year 2019 will likely be higher than the average of many years, severe cold is unlikely to occur during this period.

The Central region during the Lunar New Year will have clear weather, with some rain in some places, with little chance of widespread rain.

The weather in the Southern and Central Highlands regions is mainly dry, with the possibility of hot weather with high temperatures of 35-36 degrees Celsius.

It is forecasted that in January 2019 (the month before Lunar New Year), cold air in the North will continue to be strong and there will be about 3-5 waves. Severe cold will continue to last for about the first three or four days of the month, severe cold will likely occur in the second half of the month but will not last long.

During these severe cold spells, high mountain areas such as Fansipan in Lao Cai, Mau Son in Lang Son... are likely to experience frost. From around February 2019, between cold spells, there will be some days with light rain, drizzle and fog.
