On the evening of April 10, 2015, in the cold and light rain of spring, volunteer students from Dai Nam University joined together to carry out the Warm Porridge Program No. 7, bringing hot, nutritious bowls of porridge to patients at the National Burn Hospital and the poor, homeless, and night workers in Hanoi.

“Warm Porridge” is one of the meaningful activities in the program “Warm Winter Love” launched by the Student Volunteer Team in October 2014. With the simple purpose of Dai Nam students, it is to contribute a little bit, to share with society, to help the less fortunate people have more warmth in the cold winter. Since then, the program “Warm Porridge” has been implemented 6 times, receiving enthusiastic support from teachers in the school and social organizations, especially the attention of the media.

From 6:00 p.m., the students prepared the ingredients and started cooking porridge. A pot of porridge with simple ingredients of rice cooked with bone broth, pork and some vegetables: pumpkin, potatoes... but containing enough nutrition was carefully cooked by the students.

By 9:00 p.m., all work was completed, the porridge boxes were carefully packed and stored in thermal styrofoam boxes to be brought to the Burn Institute.

The porridge boxes are kept in thermal foam boxes.

Then, at 10:00 p.m., you continue to distribute porridge at parks, stone benches, sidewalks... where there are many homeless and poor people to distribute porridge. The bowls of porridge delivered by Dai Nam students to the recipients have somewhat dispelled the cold of winter; helping the poor, homeless, and night laborers feel warmer.

The students gave the food to the homeless.

Quietly leave the porridge aside

Warm porridge is a very meaningful and humane volunteer activity of Dai Nam students. Happy smiles, or short, cheerful conversations with the elderly, uncles and aunts are the joy of the students when doing this work. The program really needs the kind hearts and support of teachers, students and social organizations, so that bowls of "warm porridge" can reach the hands of the less fortunate, dispelling the cold of winter.
