Valedictorian of the school year 2014-2015: Determined to pursue dreams

With a very high GPA of 9.07, Cao Thi Thu Oanh - Faculty of Finance and Accounting became the valedictorian of the 2014 - 2015 school year of Dai Nam University. Thu Oanh was also honored to be one of 98 excellent valedictorians attending the program "Ceremony to honor excellent valedictorians graduating from universities and students in Hanoi in 2015" at the Temple of Literature, the evening of August 23, 2015.

Nurtured the dream of becoming a banker from a young age

Thu Oanh was born and raised in Mong Cai - Quang Ninh. Although no one in her family works in the banking industry, she has dreamed of becoming a bank employee since she was in 8th grade. Both of her parents wanted her to study pedagogy, but her parents respected her determination to pursue her dream and encouraged her to pursue her dream. Oanh shared: " Starting from 8th grade, seeing my seniors working in banks with their uniforms and modern working style, I liked them and was determined to study well to take the banking entrance exam. My parents were always by my side, motivating me to try harder during the hard days of studying for exams."

Among many universities, Oanh chose Dai Nam University as the place to fulfill her dream. Oanh came to Dai Nam University by chance, as if by “fate”. In the last days of high school, when she was wondering which university to register for to study her favorite major in Banking and Finance, Oanh learned about Dai Nam University through the admissions consulting information channel on VTV2; although it is a “young” school, Oanh was immediately attracted by the innovation in the training process, especially she was impressed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the School - a person with many years of experience in teaching and working in the banking industry. Therefore, Oanh decided to register for Block A, Faculty of Banking and Finance, Dai Nam University. Sometimes coincidence brings people together. For Oanh, it was the same, she decided to choose Dai Nam and she realized that her decision was completely correct.

Change yourself from soft skills courses

In the early days, like many other students from the provinces who came to Hanoi to study, Thu Oanh was very confused and worried, but also full of joy and determination. With a shy nature, and being a first-year student, Oanh was not a prominent figure in the class. But during the military training period, Oanh was assigned to be a squad leader, and from then on, she became less shy. However, it was not until her second year, when she was elected as the class secretary, that Oanh really changed and made a breakthrough in her studies as well as her personality. In particular, with the soft skills subject at Dai Nam, Oanh learned many useful and practical things. The subject taught her how to confidently stand in front of a crowd, boldly express herself and her goals, transforming her from a shy student who did not dare to integrate into the group into an active and confident secretary.

Oanh shared: “I really changed when I went to university. It was Dai Nam University, teachers and friends who helped me change from a shy girl to a bold and active one. Dai Nam gave me a lot of things, knowledge, skills; helped me change from thinking to personality and perspective on life..”

Scientific method

As a girl who always lives with passion and achieves "huge" achievements in studying, Thu Oanh always knows how to harmoniously coordinate work and study. During her time at university, Oanh worked many part-time jobs from sales to teaching English and in her final year, Oanh worked as a collaborator at PV Combank. Oanh said: " For me, study time is not as important as effective study methods, then I will be able to balance studying and working part-time. I always take full notes of the lectures of teachers in a scientific and easy-to-understand way according to the diagram method. In particular, I always note the points that teachers emphasize in class". Entering each exam, Oanh carefully prepares the outline, synthesizes knowledge and reviews carefully. At the same time, always aware of the importance of English, Oanh always makes the most of her free time to learn foreign languages and supplement her specialized skills.

As one of the 98 valedictorians who graduated with distinction in 2015 and were honored at the Temple of Literature, Thu Oanh is even more aware of her responsibility to the School and the country. She shared: “ Achieving the results I have today is largely due to the dedication of my teachers. I am very grateful to my teachers and the School. I plan to continue my graduate studies, learn more English, and improve my knowledge and skills to better myself to be worthy of the trust and hope of my teachers and the School.”

Before Thu Oanh, Dai Nam University had Dang Minh Phuong who was also honored at the "Ceremony to honor the excellent graduates of universities and academies in Hanoi, 2014". These students are proof to society that the training quality of Dai Nam University - a private university is not inferior to any public university. Minh Phuong, Thu Oanh and many other students of Dai Nam University will assert themselves with their working ability, becoming useful people for society.
