As of 7:00 p.m. on March 8, Vietnam recorded 30 cases of Covid-19 infection, of which 16 cases have been completely cured and discharged from hospital.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Vietnam being isolated and treated includes:

- A 26-year-old woman in Hanoi visited her sister in the UK, traveled to Italy, France and returned to Hanoi on March 2 (Patient 17).

- 1 male, 27 years old, from Thai Binh, went to Daegu (Korea) and returned to Vietnam on March 4 (Patient 18)

- 2 people in close contact with patient 17 were confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 on March 6 (patient 19, patient 20).

- 1 male, 61 years old in Hanoi, was sitting near the row on the flight with patient 17 (patient 21).

- 9 people are foreign passengers on the flight with patient BN17 from the UK to Vietnam, specifically: BN22: 60 years old, British nationality; BN23: 66 years old, British nationality; BN24: 58 years old, Mexican nationality; BN25: 70 years old, British nationality; BN26: 50 years old, Irish nationality; BN27: 67 years old, British nationality; BN28: 74 years old, British nationality; BN29: 58 years old, British nationality; BN30: 66 years old, British nationality.

* Regarding the epidemic situation, the Italian news agency ANSA cited data from the country's Civil Protection Agency, saying that on March 8, Italy recorded 133 more deaths from the Covid-19 epidemic, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 366 (an increase of 57.1% compared to March 7).

In February, France was one of the countries with the fastest growing number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the world.

* On March 8, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and US officials, there are currently 470 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the US.

Of the new cases, three were citizens from Wuhan, 46 were from the Diamond Princess cruise ship, and 21 were from the Grand Princess cruise ship, the CDC said.

* On March 8, the Chilean Ministry of Health confirmed that the country had the 8th positive case of SARS-CoV-2, an 83-year-old man. This person has been hospitalized and is in stable condition.

* Peru's Ministry of Health announced that the country has detected 5 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection, bringing the total number of infections to 6.

* The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Health confirmed that as of March 8, the country had three more cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection, bringing the total number of Covid-19 patients to five. According to the health agency's announcement, all three newly discovered cases had returned from Italy. In addition, authorities also announced that they had quarantined five students returning from Ukraine, who were helped by the Ukrainian government to return from the epicenter of the epidemic in Wuhan, China.

* The Brazilian government updated information saying that the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in the South American country has increased to 19, of which 16 cases were infected returning from abroad and 3 other cases were infected domestically.

To date, Latin American countries with Covid-19 patients include Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Peru, with the first death from Covid-19 recorded in Argentina.

* The Canadian government announced that it will send a plane to bring Canadian citizens on the Grand Princess cruise ship off the coast of California (USA). There are currently more than 3,500 people on the Grand Princess and the US has recorded 21 cases of Covid-19 on the ship.

* Egyptian state media quoted the country's Ministry of Health as saying that the first death from SARS-CoV-2 was a 60-year-old German citizen who was diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 7 at a hospital in Hurghada city.

* The Algerian Ministry of Health said it had identified one new case positive for SARS-CoV-2, an Algerian citizen returning from Spain, bringing the total number of infections in this North African country to 20 and making it the country with the most infections in Africa.

* Meanwhile, the Israeli Ministry of Health has recorded 14 more people diagnosed positive for SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total number of patients infected with this virus in Israel to 39.

The Covid-19 patients include people returning from Spain, Austria, Belgium and Italy.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the establishment of a 4 billion Shekels (about 1.15 billion USD) support fund for companies affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

* Iraq has confirmed two more deaths from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths to six. According to Iraqi health officials, the number of SARS-CoV-2 infections in the country has now reached 54.
