The threshold to ensure input quality is the minimum score that candidates can study at university or college, based mainly on the quality of the recruitment source.

Candidates anxiously wait for floor score

This year's council members, in addition to representatives of public and non-public universities and colleges, also include representatives of the Steering Committees of the Northwest, Central Highlands, and Southwest.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga said that the Council for considering the threshold to ensure input quality met to discuss general principles to determine the most appropriate and simple input score threshold so that schools can apply it to all of their diverse admission combinations.

“Although the admission combinations of schools this year are very diverse, the admission regulations stipulate that schools must reserve at least 75% of their quotas for admission according to traditional combinations. On the other hand, this year's guaranteed admission threshold is only related to admission and the admission quota of schools based on the results of the national high school exam, while nearly 200 schools with autonomous admission projects will rely on high school study results to consider a part of their admission quotas. Therefore, this year's guaranteed admission quality threshold will be considered mainly based on the quality of the admission source,” said Deputy Minister Ga.

Deputy Minister Ga said that this year, the score distribution of most subjects has moved up towards high scores, meaning the average score is in the range of 5-6 points. Low scores, close to 0 points, and high scores, 9-10 points, are also less because the exam tests both basic and advanced knowledge.

According to Deputy Minister Ga, the number of candidates wishing to take the university and college entrance exam and take all three subjects of the traditional block A is 320,000 candidates, the number of candidates taking all three subjects of block B is 187,000 candidates, block C has 111,000 candidates and the number of candidates taking all three subjects of block D is 543,000 candidates.

Block A, 110,000 candidates scored 20 points or more, 243,000 candidates scored 15 points or more.

Block B has 45,000 candidates scoring 20 points or more, 121,000 candidates scoring 15 points or more.

In other exam blocks and subject combinations, the average score of candidates is between 16 and 18 points. Meanwhile, the combination of math with social subjects or foreign languages has a lower average score, only 13 and 15 points.
