Many statistics show that the percentage of successful people with a college degree is much higher than that of people without a college degree. At the same time, there are many examples of famous super-rich people in the world who did not need to go to college, such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, etc. That makes many young people wonder whether they should go to college or not. Let's join DNU to decode "Why go to college" with educators Dr. Gian Tu Trung, Dr. Le Tham Duong and Dr. Le Dac Son in the article below.

Human success does not depend on luck or misfortune. Only learning can help people have enough knowledge to integrate and develop with society... That is also the affirmation of famous educational experts: Dr. Gian Tu Trung - Principal of PACE Business School, Director of IRED Education Institute; Dr. Le Tham Duong - Founder of PR Business School and Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University.

Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University.

Success does not depend on luck or misfortune.

At the training session for cadres, lecturers and staff at the beginning of the new school year 2022 - 2023 of Dai Nam University, with the topic "Learning and University in the new context", Dr. Gian Tu Trung emphasized: "There are many paths to success, but in life, only learning and actual learning can create value and determine one's own identity".

Dr. Gian Tu Trung shared with the staff, lecturers and employees of Dai Nam University about "Learning and University in the new context".

He said that there are many opinions about going to university, including the opinion that "you can still be successful without going to university" with many typical examples such as: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg... However, the speaker does not agree with the above opinion because these are isolated cases in the world; above all, they are the people who study the most and never stop learning.

Sharing the same opinion, Dr. Le Dac Son said that cases like Bill Gates and Steve Job are very rare, and serve as AQ-style encouragement for those who do not go to college, rather than a constructive example for young people to follow.

Dr. Le Tham Duong analyzed: “Bill Gates is the person who studies the most, so American universities are forced to invite him as an honorary professor. Bill Gates also always advises young people that if they want to succeed, they must study. Or Steve Jobs also shared that no one has ever succeeded without studying.”

Dr. Le Dac Son affirmed that going to university is a great competitive advantage for young people.

In fact, studies also show that 80% of poor people in society have no education beyond high school; 90% of rich people have a university education or higher.

Dr. Le Dac Son believes that this statistic accurately reflects the nature and impact of knowledge on human life. Human success does not depend on luck or misfortune but on knowledge, qualifications and skills.

“Only those who have knowledge and basic training can quickly recognize opportunities and become rich and successful ,” Dr. Le Dac Son emphasized.

Why go to college?

In the context of integration and fierce competition like today, the speakers said that only those who do not have a long-term vision “refuse” to go to university; or in other words, you do not know how to position yourself. So why go to university?

Firstly, going to university helps you form the first quality you must have, which is to work in the REGION but have a GLOBAL mindset.

According to Dr. Le Tham Duong, the reason why many university graduates are unemployed is because they do not meet global standards. He shared: “If you do not go to university, how can you have global capacity and thinking? Vocational schools only teach you skills. University level helps you understand and solve problems and it is suitable for the current era of everything developing like this.”

Dr. Le Tham Duong said that being successful without going to university is a misconception.

Dr. Gian Tu Trung also affirmed: “A true global citizen will not only have physical strength and expertise, but will also be a very ‘human’, very ‘national’ and very ‘himself’ person. University is the place that will help you achieve that.”

Second, going to university helps you develop comprehensively, with a mindset and method of action that meets current world standards.

Dr. Le Dac Son commented: If high school teaches culture, lifestyle, how to be a human and basic knowledge to integrate into society, then university teaches how to think, how to develop knowledge to solve problems at a high level to serve the purpose of making a living, enriching oneself, family and society in a sustainable way.

Nowadays, many students after graduating from high school do not intend to continue their studies but decide to work as factory workers. The short-term vision shows that they have just solved the problem of 'having a job and having an income'. However, in the long run, the possibility of promotion is very low, easily eliminated when youth and health decline, unemployment when old... However, if you go to university, that will never happen. Because university will give us qualifications, skills and degrees. When you have all the above factors, the opportunity to develop and advance in work is certain.

University gives young people the best opportunities and conditions to access knowledge and integrate into modern life.

Third, learn to change your destiny and position yourself.

According to Dr. Gian Tu Trung, in life, only “learning” and “real learning” create value and determine a person’s identity. “Studying at university will help us gain knowledge, get a degree, get a job and become the person we want to be, live the life we dream of…” , he said.

In a talk show with students of Dai Nam University on the topic “Why go to university”, Dr. Le Tham Duong also affirmed that university is not the only way to study; no one dies without going to university, but the quality of life between educated people and uneducated people is very different.

“You can be successful without going to college? Don’t be mistaken! Be wise in positioning yourself. You are over 18 years old, deciding what kind of life you want to live in the future is up to you,” he said.

Fourth, a university degree is an important passport that takes you to domestic and international agencies, businesses and organizations.

“University is not the only way to study; a university degree does not guarantee anyone a more comfortable life if that person does not try, does not make an effort to study and accumulate knowledge. However, going to university is a great competitive advantage. University gives us the opportunity and the best conditions to access basic knowledge and keep up with modern life. A university degree is an important passport that takes you to domestic and international agencies, businesses and organizations,” Dr. Le Dac Son advised.

With the training motto of "three legs" Knowledge - Skills and Experience, more than 90% of Dai Nam University students graduating from school have jobs in their majors and are highly appreciated by businesses.

Since its inception, Dai Nam University has determined and steadfastly adhered to the "three-legged stool" training motto to help students equip themselves with solid Knowledge - Skills and Experience, meeting the recruitment needs of businesses.

More than 90% of Dai Nam University graduates have jobs in their majors and are highly regarded by businesses. This is the desired number of many universities.

Dai Nam does not train what the school has but trains what businesses need. The school conducts semesters at businesses interspersed and continuously throughout the course, best serving the combination of learning and practice, linking theory with reality...
