Thai An Pagoda is located in the suburbs of Hanoi, next to a field, at the end of a winding village road. Perhaps, because it is located in a location that few people know about, the pagoda still maintains a quiet and pure atmosphere, unlike the grand pagodas in the bustling streets.

In 2006, when he took over the position of abbot of Thai An Pagoda, Master Thao was only 21 years old. Although the pagoda was a city-level relic, it was in a state of disrepair and very poor. The walls of the pagoda were cracked, and Master Thao feared that the pagoda could collapse at any time.
And just as the monk feared, not long after, a wall of the Tam Bao hall suddenly collapsed. Although the temple still stood, the roof tiles were crooked, and rainwater was leaking everywhere. After many years, monk Thao, with the support of the villagers, raised enough money to build a temporary corrugated iron roof over the temple's tiled roof to protect the Buddha statue from the rain and sun.

The collapsed wall was rebuilt temporarily.
Another unexpected challenge for Mr. Thao was in 2008, when at dawn, he suddenly discovered a baby of about 1 year old abandoned in front of the temple yard. When he picked the baby up, the baby sobbed: "Mommy, where are you?"
At that time, Master Thao thought very simply that if people abandoned him, the temple would open its arms to welcome him. And this was the first time the young nun had to play the role of a mother, with so much hardship of carrying, feeding and especially when the child was sick. The most haunting thing for him was that every night, the child often dreamed of his mother and cried out: "Where is mom?". Fortunately, after a while, the biological parents came to the temple to take the child back.
As if knowing the love of Master Thao for children, in the following years, 6 children were abandoned by young mothers in front of the temple yard. All 6 children were abandoned when they were just born. They did not feel the pain of being separated from their mother's warmth. Master Thao and the poor temple continued to work hard to protect and care for these unfortunate children.

Understanding the love that the teacher has for the children, students of the Faculty of Business Administration of Dai Nam University organized volunteer trips to the pagoda on weekends to help the teacher and take care of the children.

It is known that the pagoda does not have enough conditions to raise and care for the children. Unlike other famous pagodas, the main source of finance for Thai An Pagoda is from rice that Mr. Thao grows and harvests on a field of more than 8 sao provided by the commune. In addition, Mr. Thao also grows clean vegetables in the pagoda grounds to help raise the children. The students came up with a great idea, which is to help the pagoda pick and sell clean vegetables, transporting them to consumers.

On average, 50kg of clean vegetables such as water spinach, celery, sweet potato leaves, etc. will be packaged and delivered to customers.

You also took the opportunity to clean up, chop wood, and move large rocks to make the temple more airy. How could a woman do such heavy work?

They consider the temple as their second home, the children are no different from their relatives. They give all their love to the children, making up for the material and spiritual deficiencies that they have not had since birth like their peers. To see the innocent laughter of the children. To see the children babbling to spell each letter of the alphabet. To cook them delicious, nutritious meals.

Tue Tam - the oldest girl in that small family told us: "When I grow up, I will be a teacher, I will teach my younger siblings to study, I will teach them to ride a bike, please be careful when riding your little brother so he doesn't fall" . Those were the simple, innocent words of a 6-year-old child.

Looking at the children, everyone will feel sorry for them. After each trip, we students seem to have more motivation and hope to do more to help the temple and the children.
