According to Dr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal, Head of Information Technology Department, Dai Nam University, in the current trend of rapid development of knowledge and technology, knowledge cannot be "learned" in a day or two but is a long-term learning process.

The Faculty of Information Technology, Dai Nam University always focuses on stimulating students' self-study and research abilities.
Therefore, the trend of university training in the world today has changed a lot compared to before, shifting from the training process to the self-training process, meaning that students and trainees must train themselves. To do so, students must know how to read, understand and apply that knowledge to the work they are doing.
Grasping that trend, at the Faculty of Information Technology, Dai Nam University, students are encouraged to explore and learn by themselves. This is demonstrated through students actively participating in scientific research with topics that are new discoveries based on new technologies in the world as well as in Vietnam that have not been taught in school.
“As long as students can read, learn about a new technology and know how to apply it to a specific task (even a very small one), we consider it a scientific research topic for students. This helps them, after graduation, to be able to read and research any document, any new technology and immediately apply it to their work,” said Dr. Luong Cao Dong.

The ability to self-study and self-research is one of the reasons why 100% of Dai Nam University IT students.
Also according to Dr. Luong Cao Dong, thanks to this "stimulation", the number of students participating in scientific research of the Faculty of Information Technology is often very large with a very large number of topics. Specifically: In the 2017-2018 school year, the Faculty of Information Technology had 13 topics in the final round of the student scientific research movement and was the faculty with the highest number of topics.
Approach businesses from year one
Until now, Dr. Luong Cao Dong still remembers the story in 2012 when he first took over the IT Faculty at Dai Nam University: “At that time, I received a letter from a group of final year students with the content that they did not know what job to do after graduation and how to do it. That letter made me very worried. Therefore, I invited a business to talk to the students about the recruitment needs of the business, about the specific jobs that they could do after graduation. And to do those jobs, what specific knowledge and expertise do they need to have…” – Dr. Luong Cao Dong recalled.
Since then, giving students early access to businesses has always been promoted by the Faculty of Information Technology and considered one of the important contents in the Faculty's training program.
Dr. Luong Cao Dong emphasized : “Instead of waiting until the final year of university, IT students in particular and DNU students in general have been and are being exposed to businesses right from the moment they enter university. Based on the needs of employers as well as their own abilities, students will choose the most suitable and effective study direction in the following years.”

At the Faculty of Information Technology - Dai Nam University, students have access to businesses from the first year and throughout the 4 years of study at the school.
Currently, every semester, the Faculty of Information Technology organizes for students to get acquainted and interact with businesses, at least about 10 businesses, at most 20-30 businesses come to the school to discuss recruitment needs as well as requirements for each job position, thereby creating motivation for students to study.
“In addition to creating motivation, getting acquainted with businesses also helps increase students’ initiative. The Open Source Software Club of DNU students was founded by students and has been a member of the Vietnam Open Source Software Club for 4 years now,” Dr. Luong Cao Dong proudly said.
