The 9X Youth Union Secretary always tries to avoid being eliminated.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration and Secretary of the Youth Union of Dai Nam University, always tries her best in teaching and Youth Union activities. The young girl always believes that in today's society, if each person does not try, they are eliminating themselves.

Work hard while you are young

Nguyen Thi Thuy was born and raised in a poor village in Nghe An province. Born into a farming family and the eldest child in the family, from a young age the young girl cultivated the virtues of diligence and independence.

Despite being a good student, the young girl once gave up the opportunity to study at a specialized school in the province. Thuy said: “When I took the entrance exam to high school, I got a very high score and had enough points to get into the specialized school I wanted. However, due to my family’s difficult circumstances, I could not afford to study, so at that time I had to temporarily put my dream aside.”

At times like that, Thuy remembers what her teachers taught her at school: "We must study, we must try to study a lot. If we don't study hard, we won't progress. If we don't progress, we will regress. The more society advances, the more work there is, the more sophisticated the machines are. If we don't study, we will fall behind, and if we fall behind, we will be eliminated, we will eliminate ourselves..."

Therefore, no matter what environment she studies in, the young girl always tries her best so that she will not have any regrets later. For 12 consecutive years, Thuy has achieved excellent academic results.

“I always believe that being able to go to school means I am luckier than many people. Therefore, later on, when I became a lecturer, I often told students to keep dedicating themselves and giving their all while they were still in university. Because this is where many opportunities will open up for them in the future,” Thuy said.

Sharing about his “fate” with Dai Nam University, the 9X lecturer confided: “Fate or fate is just a way of speaking, but a career is something you choose, with a clear plan and goal. Ever since I was in university, looking at my teachers, I have longed to become a lecturer standing on the podium one day. This is the motivation for me to try hard to study, practice and realize my dream.”

Wholeheartedly involved in Youth Union activities

Before becoming a lecturer at Dai Nam University, the young girl spent 4 years as an excellent student at the University of Commerce.

As an active girl, always devoted to Union activities, Thuy held the position of Vice President of the Student Union of the University of Commerce since she was a student.

“One of the memorable memories for me when I was a student was establishing and developing the first organized volunteer student team of the University of Commerce, called the VMT volunteer student team. Until now, the team has been more than 11 years old. They still maintain and develop activities at the school,” the young girl confided.

After working for 2 years at Dai Nam University, the young lecturer has proven her ability by winning the love of her colleagues, the trust of her students and being entrusted by the Board of Directors with the important responsibility of Secretary of the School Youth Union.

Besides teaching activities, cultural activities and movements are considered the “soul” of the university. However, not all universities are aware of this to pay proper attention to cultural activities and movements. While working as a lecturer in the faculty with 2 subjects Soft Skills and Marketing, and doing Youth Union activities, despite being busy, the young girl is always full of energy and completes all tasks in the most excellent way.

For Thuy, the biggest difficulty of the Youth Union is how to attract students to participate in movement activities. Students today want more playgrounds to show their individual abilities. However, some movement activities are still compulsory for students to participate, so students are not really enthusiastic.

To understand students, one must be close to them. During her teaching career, the young girl began to survey students’ needs and desires to better understand them. In addition, Thuy also connected with Youth Union units at other universities to learn and refer to good programs to apply to her students.

The beautiful female lecturer is always devoted to Union activities.

To form a well-rounded personality, the 9X girl believes that every young person should learn and follow the example of beloved Uncle Ho from the work and activities related to students, specifically demonstrated in three aspects of knowledge, skills and attitude. First of all, students need to study well, this is the top task of young people while still in school. Study well to have knowledge, ability to work, assert themselves and contribute to the country and society. In addition, students need to practice professional skills, life skills such as communication, self-awareness, goal setting, teamwork and cultivate attitudes, ethics, beautiful living, healthy living, social knowledge, culture. These three things complement each other to form a well-rounded personality.

During her teaching career, Master Nguyen Thi Thuy has achieved many outstanding achievements such as: Guiding a group of students to win the First Prize in the National Startup Competition organized by VCCI in 2016 with the project of the Baby Chicken Farm; Guiding a group of students to win the Third Prize in the National Startup Competition organized by VCCI in 2018 with the project of the Black Wood Pig Farm; Certificate of Merit for excellent completion of the school year tasks of Dai Nam University from 2015 to 2019; Certificate of Merit from the Hanoi Youth Union for outstanding achievements in the Youth Union work for the term 2015 - 2017.
