The 3rd Traditional Camp: Green University and Urban Civilization Culture

In celebration of the 84th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, on March 24, 2015, the Executive Committee of the Dai Nam University Youth Union organized the 3rd Traditional Camping Festival, with the theme "Green University and Urban Culture and Civilization", with the aim of educating students, raising their sense of responsibility to the community and living environment; building a cultural and civilized lifestyle in urban areas; guiding students to practical activities, building a green and environmentally friendly University.

The concept of “Green University” is no longer new to the world but has not been mentioned much in Vietnam. However, with the urgent requirements today, the development of a green university is an inevitable trend of society. Dai Nam University will be the school that builds a green university model with the criteria: Sustainable development with the environment and the community. In addition to professional training to meet social needs, Dai Nam has been building a green – clean – beautiful learning environment not only in terms of material but also green – clean – beautiful in terms of culture, in terms of human relationships with the environment, and people with people.

The traditional camp is an annual movement activity on the occasion of the anniversary of March 26. Each year, a different theme is sent to society the message of Dai Nam Teachers and Students. For the 3rd traditional camp, Dai Nam University chose the theme "Green University and Urban Culture and Civilization" and received positive responses from students. With the desire to build a green university model, join hands with society to build a cultural and civilized urban area, all 30 camps of classes and faculties were built and decorated by students with a very unique and creative name towards the main theme of the camp.

At the beginning of the Camp, the atmosphere was immediately heated up with the performances of students from various faculties. Most notably, teachers and students were able to watch a group Flashmob dance performance by more than 200 students to the background music of the song “Vietnam, Oh” which was extremely vibrant and eye-catching.

In costumes designed from packaging with drawings and slogans of action for the environment, expressing cultural features such as "Don't swing your hands, hold your hands", "No smoking"; "plant trees, plant forests"... Dai Nam students sent to society very meaningful messages of action and cultural behavior towards the environment and the community.

Following the program was a simple but profound dance by students of the Faculty of Accounting, sending the message "let's preserve and protect trees - they are our breath, our life".

Life is becoming more and more modern with many conveniences for people, however, it also upsets the moral values of young people. With the musical of the students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and Communication, it has sounded the alarm about the negative, selfish, and insensitive lifestyle of a part of the youth, and at the same time reminded everyone that "everything will pass, only humanity remains".

In addition, at the class booths, there were also very useful activities. For example, at the command booth called “Green University”, volunteer students made and sold environmentally friendly handmade products. The proceeds will be donated to the charity fund “Scrap bottles to help pink dreams”.

Although the weather was cold with drizzle, it did not dampen the spirit and enthusiasm of the students. The camp activities were still held with the enthusiastic participation of the students. The camp was truly a meaningful activity, a useful extracurricular lesson, marking beautiful memories of the teachers and students of Dai Nam.

As a university responsible for training high-quality human resources for the country, Dai Nam University wishes to take the lead in implementing urban culture and civilization and building a green university. In addition to classroom lectures, Dai Nam University will always educate students on cultural and civilized lifestyles through practical extracurricular activities such as Traditional Camping Festival or West Lake Garbage Collection Program, Love Cakes...
