As a teacher, I am truly happy to see my students progress and develop. I hope and always strive to become an inspiration for learning and training for generations of students.

Not only dedicated and enthusiastic in teaching, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan - lecturer of the Accounting Department of Dai Nam University is also one of the lecturers who is close to each student's situation, often helping and lending money to students in difficulty to pay tuition fees, even without having to pay back. So, what is the motivation that has made her act like that over the years? Let's meet and chat with her through the short interview below!

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan - lecturer of Accounting Department, Dai Nam University.

There are no bad students, only teachers who are not good enough to be teachers.

-Hello Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan! There are many opinions that there are no bad students, only bad teachers. As a university lecturer, what do you think about this?

Every child is born with at least one unique intellectual capacity to survive and develop. The task of a teacher is to discover, suggest, awaken, orient, and guide students to develop in the best way. There are no stupid students, only teachers who have not recognized and awakened their students' intellectual potential. And if teachers have not done that, it means they are not good enough to be teachers.

For generations of students of the Accounting Faculty of Dai Nam University, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan is always mentioned as a second mother, enthusiastic, sincere and warm.

The input quality is not high but training generations of students who can work after graduation is a great contribution to society.

- In reality, the teacher-student relationship at university today is characterized by teachers not being enthusiastic about teaching and students not being eager to learn. What is your opinion on this issue?

“Students are lazy to study now, teaching is boring now…” is the catchphrase of many teachers now. However, I personally have a different view. Right! There is no shortage of university students who only really study for the first 1-2 years, then study perfunctorily for the purpose of passing the subjects and getting a degree. Many students even go to university but do not know why they have to go to university. Their parents tell them to go to university, so they go. Or more simply, they go to university to avoid military service, go to university to have a few more years of youth… This situation has been and is happening in most universities. But that is not all. I think, no matter how “open” the world is, how the concept of going to university changes, going to university is still the dream and aspiration of most young people on the threshold of adulthood, the hope of millions of families.

Ms. Xuan and former students of the Faculty of Accounting on the 10th anniversary of the school's founding.

Today's students are very smart, grasp technology quickly and have a great desire to learn. Not to mention, just in the recent 2020 admissions, many students of the Accounting Department of Dai Nam University, before deciding to register for admission, chose to try studying with teachers. If we say that students today are lazy to study, it is simply that the knowledge that teachers are teaching is unnecessary and no longer suitable for their needs and desires.

As for the teachers, I don't know about other schools, but at Dai Nam, every lecturer deeply engraves the slogan "Learning to change". The input quality is high, teachers don't need to teach students to be good. But the input quality is not high, but training generations of students who can work, are welcomed by businesses and are well evaluated for their knowledge - skills - attitudes is a great contribution to society. Thanks to schools like that, teachers like that, many generations of students have the opportunity to go to university, the opportunity to study to grow up, develop and change their lives. Our Dai Nam University has done that; is and will have to do better every day.

I try every day so that my students do not make the same mistakes and shortcomings that I myself have experienced.

- Not only is she dedicated and enthusiastic in teaching, she is also one of the lecturers who is close to each student's situation, often helping and lending students money to pay tuition, even without having to pay it back. So, what motivated her to act like that over the years?

Teaching gives me the opportunity to listen, understand more and become a support at a time in the lives of students.

Choosing to become a teacher allows me to share my knowledge and experiences with more people, to make society better, so that students do not stumble upon the mistakes or shortcomings that I myself have experienced.

Besides, being a teacher also allows me to listen more. This allows me to understand each of my students, and they trust me to share their difficulties in studying and living away from their families. This is also an opportunity for me to help my students in a more practical and direct way.

Talking about lending money to students to pay tuition fees, it is also my chance to listen to them to understand the difficulties they are facing and have the opportunity to be a support (at a very short time in their lives) so that they can continue to have the opportunity to study, practice and strive to become useful people for society.

I try every day to prevent my students from making the same mistakes and shortcomings that I have experienced.

- For generations of students, what makes you most worried and happy?

With the extremely fast movement of today's society, I always worry and hope that my students are clear-headed enough to filter useful information and have critical thinking when receiving all the diverse information streams in society. This allows them to develop diverse knowledge but also helps them form their personalities in the most comprehensive way.

As a teacher, I am truly happy to see my students progress and develop. I hope and always strive to become an inspiration for learning and training for generations of students.

-Thank you for sharing! I wish you good health, enthusiasm and always be a solid support for generations of students!
