“One thing at Dai Nam University (DNU) that I think is hard to find in any other university is that there are many quality movement activities. This is a fertile ground for students to experience, explore their abilities, creativity, and develop comprehensively in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Being involved with the Student Volunteer Team (SVTN), I have “pocketed” many valuable lessons that are not available in the classroom or in any textbooks or documents”. With the desire to contribute to the community and society, Dao Truong Son set the goal of "conquering" the SVTN team right after joining the common home of Dai Nam University.

“At first, I just thought I would join for fun. If it wasn’t a good fit, I would leave. But unexpectedly, after 4 years, I am still here and have even become the leader of the SVTN team of Dai Nam University for the 2023-2024 term,” Son shared.

10X and his teammates have participated in many school events such as: Admission Day, New Student Gala, Warm Winter, Warm Porridge, Meaningful Cake, Traditional Camp, Green Summer... Spreading the green DNU volunteer shirt to nursing homes, orphanages, villages, communes in remote areas; accompanying the Medical Team of Dai Nam University in visits and free medicine distribution to the poor...

Besides, the male Leader also "became friends" with university students in Hanoi in large community projects.

Valuable lessons not learned in the classroom

For Truong Son, each trip brings valuable memories and lessons that are not found in any textbook or document. The most memorable memory for 10X is Warm Winter 2020, when he personally handed a cup of porridge to a middle-aged man with cancer. Because he was afraid of being a burden to his family, the man went to Hanoi to earn a living and "struggle" to get treatment.

10X “pondered”: “Why are there people who suffer so much? Painful, deprived but still keep a warm, optimistic heart. That is a huge source of energy for me, helping me appreciate the life I have more; at the same time promoting the volunteer spirit in me”.

Together, prepare ingredients, cook porridge and deliver it to people in difficult circumstances in the middle of a winter night in Hanoi.

The SVTN Team of Dai Nam University also instilled in Son courage, confidence, daring to think, daring to do, daring to challenge, daring to express. Carrying the whole Team, Son never created distance. The 10X always created a harmonious, open, close environment, assigning work according to his strengths so that everyone could maximize their strengths.

These practical lessons also helped Son improve his learning skills such as: presentation, teamwork, planning, time management, financial management, resource allocation... That's why Son always maintained good academic performance and became a "in-demand" tour guide while still in school.

Desire to become a good citizen, have a good life, and be responsible to the community

In addition to managing the SVTN team, Truong Son also interned at a travel company and worked in parallel with a company specializing in organizing events and large music shows.

The male student said he is working hard to become an Event Manager in the future.

SVTN team paints a beautiful youth for many generations of Dai Nam University students.

“My biggest wish is to become a good citizen, have a good life, and be responsible to my family, school, and society. No matter what I do or where I am in the future, I will use my youth and passion to help those in need. I hope that teachers and the school will always accompany and support the SVTN team,” the 10X shared.
