Survival skills that K16 newbies need to "pin" immediately to quickly adapt to the new environment

Entering university, new students will certainly be very bewildered and encounter many difficulties in "getting used to" the new learning environment, independent life away from family. So, what "survival" skills do newbies need to equip themselves with to quickly adapt to the new environment?
Getting used to college life
The university environment is completely different from high school where most of the time is spent on self-study and research. The testing and assessment methods at university level are also different. Therefore, K16 should proactively learn to understand the regulations, rules, and methods of studying and researching at university level.
Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong - Vice Principal of Dai Nam University advised: "Students should forget the learning method of 'teachers ask - students answer' and proactively ask questions to teachers in each class. Do not copy - paste documents but copy - write, present them according to your own understanding to remember knowledge longer and more deeply. Especially, find yourself a companion to exchange knowledge, skills and learning methods..."
DNU Faculty of Medicine meets new students of K16, introduces the program and learning methods at the university.
Sharing with the “newbies K16”, Tran Duc Anh – a student of QTDL class 15-01 shared: “K16 students, please pay attention to avoid following in the footsteps of your seniors. When you first enter university, your study time is flexible and there is no one to supervise you, so you tend to be careless, let loose, and “wait until the water reaches your feet to jump”… This will immediately affect your study results in the first semester of your first year.”
To “save his score”, Duc Anh put himself “into the frame” by: Clearly defining his goal of graduating with a good degree; from there, setting out a specific study plan to achieve that through each stage and seriously following it; spending a lot of time researching documents in the library…
Use finance wisely
To avoid being broke, in debt or borrowing at high interest rates, new students need to get used to using their finances wisely. Control your spending by dividing your money into clear amounts, for different purposes throughout the month. New students should cook for themselves to save money and ensure food safety.

Beware of scams
Most new students are warned about potential pitfalls from illegal multi-level marketing models when they enter school. In addition, new students need to be wary of invitations and enticements to drug use, gambling, participating in virtual currency exchanges, football betting, over/under betting, etc.

According to Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong, when receiving invitations to participate in part-time jobs, business projects, etc., new students need to be alert and carefully check whether this information comes from reputable organizations or not. Absolutely do not participate in fraudulent trading and gambling floors because of "greed" and blindness.
“You need to be careful with requests to transfer money to get a job or to join business groups; absolutely do not borrow credit from outside because you will have to pay 'exorbitant' interest rates,” Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong emphasized.
Learn new languages and skills
Knowledge and skills are powerful weapons that help students become more confident in the future. Therefore, K16 "new recruits" need to immediately focus on the knowledge of the Soft Skills subject, of which Dai Nam is an advantage.
In addition, new students should take advantage of the time to improve their foreign language skills, especially English, to open up many opportunities for themselves while still in school.
Foreign Languages and Soft Skills are two subjects that are highly focused and promoted at Dai Nam University.
Dai Nam University is the only university with a faculty of Soft Skills Training and Development. In addition, Dai Nam University pays special attention to foreign language training with a different English training program (increasing foreign language study time and active learning methods). Therefore, new students need to take full advantage of this advantage.
Actively participate in and experience extracurricular activities at school to practice skills
Instead of withdrawing, new students should “throw” themselves into extracurricular activities at school. Through that, K16 will quickly integrate into the university environment, expand relationships, connect with friends and teachers; be confident in communication and speak fluently in front of a crowd. Actively participating in extracurricular activities and clubs is also a plus point on students’ CVs when applying for jobs.
Dai Nam University currently has more than 30 clubs/teams/groups of the University, such as: Volunteer Student Club, Guitar Club, Karate Club, Flames Dance Club, Volleyball Club, DNU Esports E-Sports Club... for new students to apply. In addition, the University has many useful activities with high humanistic values such as: The program "Banh Nghia Tinh", Traditional Camp, Green Summer, Warm Winter, Warm Porridge, Reunion Tet, Voluntary Blood Donation...
Equip yourself with sex knowledge to know how to protect yourself
Entering university is the time when new students have to leave their family and take responsibility for their own lives. This is the time when they need to seriously study and equip themselves with sex knowledge to know how to protect themselves.
Don't be shy or afraid of this issue. New students should learn about the harmful effects of sexual intercourse leading to unwanted pregnancy and childbirth in adolescence; the harmful effects of unsafe abortion; contraceptive methods such as calculating menstrual cycles, using birth control pills, as well as learn more to avoid misconceptions when using emergency contraceptive pills, how to deal with "perverts", "some sexually transmitted diseases", whether to live together or not... When equipped with a sufficient amount of knowledge, students can protect themselves and make wise decisions.
Train your health and self-defense with DNU's new physical training program
For students, physical education is increasingly important because this is a sensitive period for physical and personality development and perfection. Good health will help improve mental health, promote intellectual training, achieve high efficiency in learning; promote confidence, positivity and initiative in school and social sports activities; understand self-training methods...
DNU students can choose sports that suit their abilities and interests to practice in Physical Education.
In order to create a dynamic and comfortable learning environment for students, Dai Nam University has innovated the Physical Education training program. Accordingly, students can choose subjects that 'rarely appear' in the physical education training program: Yoga, Dance, Self-defense... With elective subjects, students will be trained comprehensively in physical and mental health, increase flexibility, increase self-defense ability, and can practice and apply in daily life.
