Students need film production skills, DNU invests in inviting "million view" directors to train

Training students to develop comprehensively in Morality - Intelligence - Body - Beauty; exploiting all talents, creativity, teamwork skills; creating a launching pad for Gen Z to position their personal brand, confidently integrate, have a good life after graduation and be a good citizen is the training motto of Dai Nam University (DNU). Whatever knowledge and skills students need, the University will immediately supplement. In accordance with that policy, Dai Nam University invited directors and "million views" to share "Short film production skills" so that students can confidently participate in the 2024 DNU Open Film Festival.

The training session on “Short film production skills” was organized by the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development of Dai Nam University. The program attracted the attention of many students of the whole school.

Directors participating in the sharing session include:

• Director – Hot Tiktoker Trang Cara with 8 years of teaching experience at the Faculty of Television, Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema; director of famous web dramas; owns a Tiktok channel with 250 thousand followers and has viral videos with more than 70 million views.
• Director of Photography (DOP), Cinematographer Trang Cong Minh with a series of famous music videos: Gieo que (Hoang Thuy Linh), Anh oi o lai (Chi Pu), the movie "Chang trai nam ay", "Ban gai toi la boss"... Golden Kite award for Excellent Cinematography.
• Director of photography Nguyen Duc Hai - the man behind successful MVs such as: When will you get married (Bich Phuong), Where are you (Huong Giang), People in love (Trung Quan),...

At the program, the speakers shared useful and interesting information about screenwriting, film directing, the journey of a scene from screenwriting to filming, editing, filmmaking techniques, etc.

According to director - hot tiktoker Trang Cara, to own a million-view video script, 6 elements are needed: Clear message; Special characters, with different circumstances, appearances, and clear personalities; The more strange and attractive the actions between the characters, the more attractive the climax; Good, meaningful or trendy dialogue can become viral; Strange setting, attractive props, creating controversy; Situations are continuously pushed to climax, causing curiosity and controversy...

Director of photography Trang Cong Minh brought DNU students a new perspective on perspective, choosing camera angles, wide - medium - close-up shooting techniques, capturing actors' emotions... At the same time, DOP Trang Cong Minh and Nguyen Duc Hai directly guided DNUERS to perform some scenes so that they could have a more intuitive view.

In addition, the three directors also answered students' questions about: Coming up with ideas and arranging the script; creating events, turning points, and promoting climaxes; acting, capturing character emotions; film editing software, recording on-site sound to avoid background noise, techniques for filming from above, setting up scenes, etc. At the same time, the speakers advised young people to be bold in taking challenges, daring to think and do, and bringing to the public meaningful films with clear content and messages.

Surely our group will bring to this year's competition a quality and meaningful short film."

The expanded DNU Film Festival with the theme “Taking Off to Dai Nam” is a reunion and competition for students and alumni of all courses. With a scale and grandeur 5 times larger than in 2023, the total prize value of this year’s competition has also been ‘upgraded’, up to 22 million VND.

Short film voting period: from March 22, 2024 – March 25, 2024.

Voting period for best actor and best supporting actor: March 26, 2024 – March 28, 2024.
