This is a golden opportunity for any university student in the world. A degree from UMD is one of the most valuable degrees in the world. It not only helps DNU students to get hired fast, earn well-paying jobs, but also offers them the opportunities to experience American culture and lifestyle with scholarships up to 6000 USD/ student/ year offered by UMD.

Educational internationalization and training students to become global citizens is the development orientation of Dai Nam University from 2023 to 2030. To promote that strategy, with the aim of creating a dynamic, modern, cross-border learning environment for students; and fostering their personal growth and career opportunities after graduation, DNU has cooperated and implemented dual-degree programs with many universities in the U.S, Australia and Malaysia.

On February 14th, 2023, Dai Nam University continued to sign an MoU with the University of Minnesota Duluth, which is a member university of the University of Minnesota - ranked #41 in the world according to the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and #100 by The Higher Education 2022.

Dr. Le Dac Son highly appreciates and expects that this partnership would bring development opportunities to both universities and strengthen the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and the U.S

Attending the ceremony:

From the UMD side, there were Dr. Karl Markgraf - the Chief International Officer and Director, and Dr. Praveen Aggarwal - the Dean of Labovitz School of Business and Economics, UMD.

On the side of the U.S Embassy Hanoi, there were Ms. Kate Bartlett - Cultural Affairs Attaché, Ms. Nguyen Dang Minh Chinh - Senior Education USA Adviser, and Ms. Bui Phuong Anh - Education USA Adviser.

On the side of DNU, there were Dr. Le Dac Son – the Chairman of University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hong - the President, along with the Vice Presidents and Heads of Faculty of Business Administration and functional departments.

Speaking at the Signing Ceremony, Dr. Le Dac Son highly appreciated the collaboration between DNU and UMD. He believed that the cooperation would promote educational development of both sides and strengthen diplomatic relationships between Vietnam and America.

Dr. Praveen Aggarwal expressed his pleasure to establish a solid and comprehensive partnership with Dai Nam University

Dr. Praveen Aggarwal - the Dean of Labovitz School of Business and Economics shared that it was the second time he visited and worked with DNU, marking a major turning point in the journey of cooperation between two sides. The main purpose of the visit was to build a cooperative relationship on higher education training with DNU, helping both universities achieve their global interaction goals.

Thereby, from the academic year 2023-2024, DNU will implement the 2+2 Dual Degree Program with UMD, allowing students to study at DNU for the first 2 years, and then transfer to UMD in the next two years to complete the program and receive the Bachelor Degree of Business Administration, majoring in Management and Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Praveen also stated that UMD has developed the Scholarship Programs, supporting DNU students to complete the dual Bachelor’s degree programs with reasonable costs. Specifically, DNU students could receive UMD scholarships of 6000 USD/ student/ year. 

With the 2+2 Dual Degree Program, DNU students could grasp the opportunities to get 3 degrees

Students participating in the 2+2 Dual Degree Program could take 2 Bachelor degrees from DNU and UMD, and then can continue to pursue a MBA program at UMD within one year. Thereby, students could receive 3 degrees within only 5 years.

“In the future, we hope to expand more opportunities to students in other majors, multiplying the effectiveness of this partnership. Besides the student exchange program, we expect a robust relationship that will promote additional collaboration initiatives, including: faculty and staff exchange, joint research, international conferences and seminars, study abroad programs, etc. UMD is committed to mutual supportive cooperation between the two sides, supporting faculty and students to exchange and gain knowledge. We are looking forward to strengthening the partnership with DNU, establishing a solid and comprehensive friendship with DNU in the coming years…”  said Dr. Praveen Aggarwal.

UMD is currently collaborating with 3 universities in Vietnam, including: Vietnam National University, Foreign Trade University, and VinUni International University.

Ms. Kate Bartlett praised the cooperation and stated that the U.S Embassy would create the most favorable conditions for the effective partnership between the two universities

Witnessing the Signing Ceremony, Ms. Kate Barlett, on behalf of the U.S. Embassy Hanoi, said that: “Today’s Signing ceremony is not only the cooperation between 2 universities, but more importantly the cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S, contributing to the solid diplomatic relationship between the two countries. We are committed to providing the best support for the development of higher education between 2 universities as well as 2 countries to the fullest …”

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is a member of the University of Minnesota system, established in 1947, with an area of about 100 hectares in the port city of Duluth in the state of Minnesota, USA.

UMD is currently home to more than 10.000 students, with approximately 304 international students coming from 41 countries.

UMD is ranked #89 out of 684 universities teaching Master's programs in the US according to the Washington Monthly Ranking; ranked #36 among the best public universities in the Midwest region of the U.S according to the U.S News & World Report Best Colleges of 2014.
