Student exchange between Dai Nam University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies: Opportunity to learn about Japanese culture and people

Recently, students majoring in Japanese from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Dai Nam University (DNU) had an exchange session with students from Osaka University of Foreign Studies, Japan. At the program, DNU students had the opportunity to directly interact with native speakers and learn about the culture, country and people of Japan.

The exchange is part of the 3-week practical experience exchange program in Vietnam for students of Osaka Foreign Language School. The program is organized by the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture, USSH.

Sharing at the exchange session, Mr. Hua Ngoc Tan - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Dai Nam University said: Cultural and language exchange activities for students are part of the strategy to internationalize the training programs of the Faculty and the University. With an international learning model, Dai Nam University offers many opportunities to study and exchange students with prestigious universities in Japan such as Hyogo University, Kuyshu University of Industry, Fukuoka Women's University, GAG Japanese Language Academy, Osaka Minami Japanese Language Academy, etc.

Besides, Dai Nam University has built a good relationship with the Mayor of Buzen City; signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Business Association in Japan (VJBA)...

This is the second year DNU students have participated in the exchange program to improve their Japanese knowledge and skills.

“The exchange with students from Osaka University of Foreign Studies is a valuable opportunity for DNU Japanese major students to interact and talk with native speakers, and learn more about Japanese culture, country and people. I believe that experiential activities like this will be a source of motivation for students to strive even harder in their journey to conquer Japanese,” said Mr. Hua Ngoc Tan.

Within the framework of the program, students of the two schools had the opportunity to share about the culture, customs, famous places, specialties, etc. of Vietnam and Japan. In addition, students were also enthusiastically answered by experts and teachers about how to use, notes about Japanese and Vietnamese in terms of addressing, greeting, using words, asking questions, etc.

Sharing about the exchange, Nguyen Thi Cam Ly - class NB 15-01 expressed: "I feel very happy to interact and talk directly with Japanese students. This is the first time I have used Japanese to communicate with native speakers. Although my ability to understand Japanese is still limited, through the exchange, I am no longer shy and more confident in speaking Japanese."

Shino Ohara – a student at Osaka University of Foreign Studies shared: “This is my first time in Vietnam, everything is new and interesting. The living environment here is very dynamic, modern, and the people are friendly. I feel very happy to meet and exchange with teachers and students majoring in Japanese at Dai Nam University. I hope to have the opportunity to meet everyone again when I return to Vietnam”.

In the coming time, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Dai Nam University will continue to bring students to experience reality, exchange with students of Japanese universities, organizations and enterprises to enrich their knowledge, improve their skills and expertise; and expand job opportunities. Dai Nam University commits that 100% of students majoring in Japanese will have jobs immediately after graduation.
