“Practice, real combat, real substance” in E-commerce at Dai Nam University

“Practice – Real-life” is a new training method applied at the Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy. With this method, the Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy will bring more benefits to learners, striving to become one of the leading faculties in terms of training quality of the school and become one of the prestigious addresses for training human resources in e-commerce and digital technology in the country. Let's learn about new things about this training method with the Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy, DNU to understand more clearly.
The Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy is a pioneer in training students in the direction of application, practical career, "saying no" to academic theory. The program structure is built in the direction of application with the enhancement of professional skills, soft skills and foreign language skills and the biggest goal is to train quality human resources in E-commerce, meeting the recruitment needs of enterprises. The "Practice - Practical" method is considered the "compass" for lecturers to convey knowledge and guide students to practice in a new, more creative and practical direction.
The content of this method will include 3 parts: basic theory, practical application, and professional practice.
- Foundational Theory
Theory is an extremely important foundation because “theory is the experience, knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence accumulated by generations, providing researchers with a knowledge base to argue and interpret research problems. To grasp knowledge and apply it in practice, fundamental theory is indispensable. You can learn a lot of advanced things, but if you do not grasp the basics, you will not be able to solve problems properly.
At the Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy, we promote the transmission of fundamental knowledge so that students can grasp and understand the roots of all problems. The time spent on theory only accounts for 30%, so the lecturers in the Faculty have designed extremely concise and useful theoretical study programs, helping students to understand and apply immediately after studying.
With this new learning method, we say no to "academic" theory but focus on important fundamental theory, serving the content of "Practice - real combat".
- Practice application
An important content in this method is Practice. Practice will contribute to training the ability of independent thinking, proactive creativity, and fostering knowledge after learning the basic theoretical content. The Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economics builds a program framework that interweaves theory and practice to make the lessons more exciting and help students absorb knowledge faster.
Practical content in the e-commerce training program will be implemented through 4 stages:
Preparation stage: The lecturer chooses the practice topic, determines the practice plan and some requirements that students need to meet after completion.
Implementation phase: The instructor will guide students through the main content of the practice section, providing suggestions and procedures to help students complete it in the best way possible.
Practice phase: Conduct individual practice or divide into groups and ask groups to present the content and presentation of the prepared practice. Meanwhile, the remaining groups/students will have comments and add knowledge to the presenting group.
Summary and evaluation stage: Based on the content presented by students, the lecturer is the one who gives and gives comments on the practical lesson. At the same time, draw experiences for students when applying in practice and evaluate the practical results of students. The time for practice is designed to be 30% -40% depending on the nature of each subject. The Faculty of E-commerce and Architecture believes that, with this practical application, students can grasp and remember knowledge in the fastest way and at the same time clearly understand the nature of the research problem.
- Professional practice
“Practical training” is the training motto that the Faculty of E-commerce and Architecture aims for in the training program. This is a fairly new concept for students. However, “practical training” will be the destination and practical need of students when they step out of the university gate.
“Practical training” is the process in which students learn and work practically at businesses or experience learning in real models through the following stages:
Students are guided to research scientific topics from the first year. Participating in research will help students gradually develop skills and experience to become independent researchers. This will be a great advantage for the learning process.
Lecturers are experts with experience in the field of E-commerce and Digital Economy, CEOs & COFOUNDERS of businesses and have a lot of practical experience, who will guide students to practice right at those businesses. In particular, the Faculty of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Dai Nam University, in collaboration with business partners, creates a large ecosystem of e-commerce startups so that students have the opportunity to practice, gain experience and intern right from the first year.
