Along with the rapid development of social life, people's demand for health care is increasing. According to the United Nations' forecast, the global population will reach 9.7 billion people by 2050, leading to an increasing demand for human resources to meet people's health needs. The Nursing industry is listed by Entrepreneur magazine (USA) as one of the 10 hottest and important career trends in the world.
Severe shortage of nursing human resources
The shortage of nurses occurs in many places, such as developed countries such as the UK, the US, Australia... In particular, the US is short of 500,000 people. Many countries are also attracting quality nurses from other countries by relaxing immigration laws and paying higher salaries,...
In Vietnam alone, the actual nursing human resources trained in practice only meet 1/3 of the State's regulations on the nursing regime. The urgent situation of training nursing human resources to compensate for these shortages is extremely important, when the population officially enters the aging stage with life expectancy increasing continuously in the past decades and the need to ensure health security and health care is increasing.
Nursing human resources in our country are in shortage.
According to the Ministry of Health, the nursing workforce in Vietnam is at the lowest level in Southeast Asia. While the World Health Organization recommends that 1 doctor needs 4 nurses, in our country this ratio is only 1 doctor for 1.5 nurses. The number of university-level nursing staff is not enough to meet the development needs of medical facilities and hospitals.
Given this situation, educational institutions and the job market need to have policies to adjust the young generation's awareness of the importance and direction of the Nursing profession.
Directions for solving the problem of training quality nursing human resources
The job responsibilities of a Nurse are very important and require skill, dedication, and love for the profession. They not only support patients in their daily activities but also manage therapies; coordinate with doctors in patient care; participate in initial patient emergency care; talk to patients and their families to know their problems and needs;…
With the above job requirements, Nurses can perform their work with passion and develop their career with high income, along with opportunities for advancement and development in society. Nurses can work in hospitals and private clinics in and outside the country.
Because of the shortage of human resources in the profession, the Ministry of Education and Training allows universities to be autonomous in training nursing human resources for society.
The policy of allowing the expansion of universities outside the health care sector to train nursing is a practical direction in training human resources and solving employment for many young people. Of course, to have a competent nursing workforce, it requires great attention from society and the school organization itself in education.
It can be seen that the future career direction of Nursing will develop, full of potential opportunities and the problem of how to solve the human resource problem requires great contribution in the education work of the State, the School and the society.
