Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien said so at the Conference on Improving the Quality of Secondary Education in 2015-2016 organized by the Department of Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh City on August 29 with the participation of delegates from the Departments of Education and Training of Southern provinces and cities.

Regarding the national high school exam plan for the next school year, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Vinh Hien, it is basically possible to still use the same exam plan as in 2015. However, the Ministry is consulting on the exam time and will have the best preparations to facilitate the students.
Also at the workshop, Dr. Vu Dinh Chuan, Director of the Department of Secondary Education, reported to delegates the summary of the 2014-2015 school year for secondary education and the direction and tasks of the 2015-2016 school year.

Accordingly, in the last school year, the whole country had 5,098,830 secondary school students, while the number of high school students was 2,439,919. Regarding the school network, there were 10,878 secondary schools (including junior high schools), and 2,767 high schools. Of which, 3,585 secondary schools met national standards, and 510 high schools met national standards.
Regarding the implementation of universal secondary education, as of June 2015, 63/63 provinces met the standards, reaching 100%; 100% of district-level units met the standards, the rate of students aged 15-18 with secondary school diplomas was 89.46%...
According to the general assessment of the Department of Secondary Education, the Departments of Education and Training have seriously and effectively implemented the campaigns and emulation movements launched by superiors and the Ministry of Education and Training, which have had a positive impact on the overall quality of education in secondary schools. The innovation of teaching methods, testing and assessment has been maintained actively and effectively, creating many changes in the team of management staff and secondary school teachers. The quality of education has been gradually improved, as shown by the results of the classification of conduct and academic performance at all levels, which have increased compared to the previous school year. The results of national and international exams and competitions have both increased in quantity and quality...
In addition, in the past school year, some departments directed the implementation of the program inflexibly; some schools did not seriously implement the education plan, ending the program of some subjects not included in the national high school exam early. In particular, the results of good and excellent academic performance of 12th grade students in the 2014-2015 school year in many localities showed a phenomenon of increasing higher than the general level such as: Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc...
The leaders of the Department of Secondary Education also stated the key tasks for the next school year of secondary education: Focus on innovation, improving the capacity and effectiveness of educational management work towards increasing decentralization, implementing the autonomy of schools in implementing educational plans along with improving school management capacity. Strongly innovate teaching methods, enhance practical skills, apply students' knowledge and skills, diversify learning forms, focus on creative experience activities, and scientific research.
