A candidate who scored 29.5 points (after multiplying the math coefficient) was initially very confident and submitted his application for admission to the math pedagogy major (HCMC University of Education). However, after about 3 rounds of updating the list, this candidate was removed from the number of candidates for this major. This candidate began to panic and worry, not knowing which other school to apply to because there were too many candidates in the same situation.

Could you please explain the admission process in the candidate's story above?

This year's admission plan is different from previous years in that it allows candidates to correct their mistakes when choosing a school or major by withdrawing their application to another school when they know their exam scores. The Department of Education and Training also always reminds students to consider choosing a suitable school or major so as not to have to withdraw their application. The example given above shows that students did not base their choice of school or major on the advice and data provided by the Ministry: students only got 29.5 (in which the Math subject was doubled), which is a low score compared to the actual score distribution this year to register for the Math Pedagogy major of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (last year the admission score was 24 without the coefficient) and Saigon University (last year the admission score was 29 with the coefficient). This is also a mistake made by many students, leading to them having to withdraw their application after submitting their application to the school.

Do you have any advice for candidates in submitting applications during the last days of round 1?

The higher the candidate's score is compared to the school's admission score in previous years, the higher the safety. According to the analysis of the score distribution this year, in most majors, candidates must have a higher score (compared to the admission score in previous years) of at least 2.5-3 points to have a chance of being admitted. Candidates can refer to the application status of the schools to make a decision, but absolutely do not rely solely on this information to make a decision to withdraw or submit the application. If you only rely on this information, there will be a situation where you withdraw and apply to another school, then have to worry about withdrawing again.

Does the Ministry of Education and Training have any special instructions for universities, colleges and departments of education and training so that schools can quickly resolve issues to help candidates conveniently withdraw and submit their applications?

In the instructions sent to universities and colleges, the Ministry also reminded schools to arrange candidates' registration files scientifically to ensure that they can return the files to candidates quickly. The Ministry has directed universities, colleges, and departments of education and training to mobilize enough human resources, focus on technical means, increase working hours, etc. to receive registration files and withdraw registration files in the remaining days of the first admission round. In the last days of this admission round, schools need to continuously update candidates' registration information for candidates to follow. Departments of education and training must promptly transfer information on changes in candidates' admission wishes to schools and report to the Ministry according to regulations to promptly handle candidates' wishes.

What should candidates do to avoid more trouble in registering for admission when each candidate has 3 more admission papers and each admission paper has 4 more wishes?

In the next admission round, candidates can use 3 exam result notices at the same time to apply to 3 different schools, each exam result notice can register 4 wishes. With this regulation, although candidates can register more wishes, they must consider carefully when choosing a school and major because during each admission round, candidates cannot withdraw their application. Candidates can only withdraw their application after the end of the admission round and they are not admitted. Schools will also have to calculate the rate of fake candidates to ensure that they are admitted enough but do not exceed the quota.

Thank you sir.

Many universities are struggling to return applications.

Many universities in Ho Chi Minh City said that from today (August 17), they will have to "struggle" to return application files to candidates because the number of applications for admission to the school has exceeded the target by quite a lot, while the first round of university and college admissions is only 3 days away.

Mr. My Giang Son, Head of the Training Department of Saigon University, said that as of August 15, the school had 12,182 applications for admission and 4,730 applications for withdrawal while the school only had 4,000 quotas. Ho Chi Minh City Open University has more than 1,100 applications for withdrawal, the remaining number at the school is more than 5,000 while the school's quota is 2,600. Mr. Nguyen Minh Ha, Head of the Training Department of the school said: "In the coming days, the school will have to "struggle" to return nearly 2,500 applications, not to mention the number of new applications submitted."

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics also has more than 5,600 applications while the quota is 4,400. Similarly, in the coming days, other universities will also start to strain to return around 2,000 applications to candidates, some even have more such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry currently has 10,809 applications/8,000 quotas; Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry has about 5,000 applications/3,000 quotas; Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has about 8,000 applications/3,300 quotas; University of Natural Resources and Environment has about 3,000 applications/2,000 quotas...
