At 5:00 a.m. this morning (June 22), more than 20 teachers from Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 were present at the school to depart for Sop Cop, a border district (bordering Laos) of Son La, to perform the task of invigilating the national high school exam.

Previously, at 5:00 a.m. on June 21, about 30 officers and lecturers of the University of Water Resources left for Dien Bien to perform exam supervision duties, of which more than 20 teachers went to Muong Nhe, about 650 km from Hanoi. The remaining, more than 300 teachers, departed at the same time at 5:00 a.m. today.

According to Professor Nguyen Trung Viet, Vice Principal of the school, there are 3 particularly difficult locations. “There are places that are only about 70 - 80 km from Dien Bien City, but it takes 8 - 9 hours to get there. There are places that require motorbikes, not cars. The most difficult place is Cha Cang High School (Nam Po District), both in terms of accommodation and transportation,” Professor Viet said, then added: “The students are very tired, but the school is still willing to share with society to “bear” this hardship.”

Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the unit that has to mobilize the most staff and lecturers to serve the national high school exam, up to 841 people. The locality that the school was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to coordinate the organization of the exam is Thanh Hoa, one of the places with the largest number of candidates taking the exam in the country.

The school hired cars to take teachers from Hanoi to each exam location. According to general regulations, the province only paid each teacher 300,000 VND for the car (round trip). In addition, the school also supported teachers with food and accommodation in addition to the business trip expenses. The total cost the school had to cover was more than 500 million VND. Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Van Top, Vice Principal of the school, said: "The school is willing to pay to create conditions for teachers to feel secure in doing their jobs in the best possible conditions."

Professor Nguyen Trung Viet, University of Water Resources, said that the school arranged a total of 45 45-seat vehicles to transport delegations of officials and lecturers to Dien Bien to supervise the exam, all expenses were paid by the school. It is known that, combined with other support, the school's budget for this exam is also estimated at about 500 million VND.

Most universities, when participating in organizing the exam with localities, determine that they will have to pay extra money for staff and lecturers. The farther the school is, the more expenses they will have to pay. For example, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 determined that it will have to pay an additional 600 million VND (even though it only sent 185 people). The University of Transport Technology, although the exam site is right in Hanoi, is in the suburbs (Chuong My, Quoc Oai, Soc Son), so the school also determined that it will have to pay about 250 million VND to support 450 staff and lecturers participating in the exam.
