While the middle and lower-level schools are having difficulty recruiting students and meeting the quality assurance threshold for health majors, Dai Nam University is still confident in ensuring at least 80% of the enrollment target assigned by the Ministry.

Tighten the input, ensure the output

Starting from 2019, the health sector will have its own threshold to ensure input quality. This regulation was applied when a few years ago, some schools in the health sector announced low admission threshold scores, raising concerns about poor enrollment quality leading to poor output quality.

Tighten input quality of the health sector to ensure output quality.

After the Ministry of Education and Training announced the threshold to ensure the quality of input for the health sector, a series of universities announced their minimum scores for receiving applications. Most schools accept applications according to the minimum scores set by the Ministry, such as: Medicine, Dentistry 21 points; Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy 20 points; the remaining majors are at the same level of 18 points.

The announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training's threshold to ensure input quality for the health sector has received consensus and high appreciation from training institutions as well as public opinion.

The Ministry's tightening of enrollment in health care may cause difficulties for top, middle and lower-level schools, but it is necessary.

Prof. Dr. Do Huu Tu – Vice Rector of Hanoi Medical University commented: “Health sciences need to have input competency standards. That is a reasonable decision and one of the important criteria to ensure input quality, sufficient conditions for students to study medicine and ensure output quality…”

Sharing the same view, Dr. Luong Cao Dong - Principal of Dai Nam University shared : “Training institutions need to seriously fulfill their social responsibilities through providing quality training products. Ensuring input quality does not decide everything but is an extremely important step to ensure output quality…”

It is known that in 2019, the whole country has over 33,000 admission quotas for the health sector while the total number of registered admission wishes is nearly 5 times higher. The representative of the Ministry of Education said that they will closely monitor the admission work of schools in the health sector to ensure that the input of the sector is directly related to the health and life of the people.
