Linking schools with businesses, experience of Dai Nam University

Currently, the situation of university students after graduation not finding jobs or jobs that do not match their majors tends to increase. The number of students with jobs in terms of quality also does not meet the needs of employers, businesses still lack labor in both quantity and quality.

Currently, the situation of university students after graduation not finding jobs or jobs that do not match their majors tends to increase. The number of students with jobs in terms of quality also does not meet the needs of employers, businesses still lack labor in both quantity and quality.
The above situation reflects the inadequacy and mismatch between training and use, between schools and businesses, thereby raising the issue that universities need to pay more attention to the connection and cooperation between schools and businesses.
After more than 10 years of construction and development, with the policy of building a high-quality university with an application orientation, Dai Nam University always attaches importance to cooperation with businesses and social organizations, considering this as the school's advantage in improving the quality of training and solving employment for students. The school has comprehensively cooperated with a number of businesses in designing and managing training programs, organizing enrollment, organizing training, practical internships and coordinating to solve employment for students after graduation. The school regularly cooperates with businesses to organize job fairs, recruitment programs, and job consulting services for students to help students grasp the needs of businesses and create more job opportunities for students. In order to equip students with more professional skills as well as life and work skills, every year the school organizes soft skills training courses (communication skills, presentation skills, teamwork skills, CV writing skills, practical work skills at enterprises) for students, especially final year students. The school also regularly organizes seminars and exchange sessions with enterprises to supplement practical knowledge while increasing motivation and excitement for students in studying and starting a business. In particular, the school has coordinated with organizations and enterprises to organize practical internships for students and recruit students to work after graduation. The school not only cares about students during the training process but also cares about students' jobs after graduation. The school has signed contracts with businesses to recruit students after graduation: the world's leading retail group Auchan (France), GPO Company, a leading organization providing human resource management services in the Vietnamese and ASEAN markets, ePacific Telecom Company, Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank), Sao Viet Advertising and Media Joint Stock Company. Notably, recently on April 18, 2018, the school signed a strategic cooperation agreement with IMAP Vietnam Education and Training Joint Stock Company on improving English proficiency for students, creating conditions for students to study in an international environment with preferential tuition fees; on April 20, 2018, the school signed a cooperation agreement with the Asian Resource Support Organization (AJK) on training support and lecturer exchange.
In addition to cooperative activities with businesses, the school also organizes many activities to connect and serve society and the community such as volunteer activities, charity activities: "warm winter love", "cake of love", "donating blood", soft skills training for high school students, organizing traditional camps, etc. All of the above activities attract the participation of a large number of staff, lecturers and students in the whole school.
The cooperation activities between schools and businesses have brought many practical benefits to the school in improving training quality and creating jobs for students:
- First of all, the school's output products have orders and addresses, so graduates will have jobs immediately and jobs that match their training. More than 90% of Dai Nam University students have jobs within one year of graduation.
- By linking with businesses, schools can grasp the requirements for knowledge, skills, expertise, and qualities of training products. This information plays an extremely important role in designing training content and programs as well as innovating the school's training methods.
- Through cooperation with enterprises, schools have many opportunities to improve their facilities. Enterprises can help solve some of the difficulties for schools in terms of lecture halls, laboratories, teaching equipment and training at enterprises.
- Through cooperation with businesses, schools are supported financially through scholarships for students, tuition fees in the form of university sponsorship for training, providing human resources for businesses, and providing finance for schools through signing research and consulting contracts.
- The training link between schools and businesses has contributed to innovation in teaching methods, and student internships must also change in the direction of serving learners, ensuring flexibility and closeness to reality.
