Letter from the Dean to students studying Medicine at Dai Nam University

Only 7 days left, until February 27, 2024 - the 69th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day. The day when the whole society honors the medical profession, "A doctor is like a gentle mother", it is a great pride for those who wear a white blouse, silently fighting day and night against diseases to save the lives of patients, wholeheartedly taking care of people's health. It is difficult to recount all the achievements of medical soldiers, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. First of all, on behalf of all the staff and lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University, I would like to wish you all good health and success in your studies and life!

69 years ago, beloved Uncle Ho sent a letter to the health sector on the occasion of the Health Workers Conference held in Hanoi. The letter he wrote was published in the People's Newspaper on February 27, 1955, short with only 368 words, concise and easy to understand; The letter expressed three extremely important contents of the health sector, which are: Must be honest and united; Love the sick; Build the country's medicine.

Due to the profound meaning of this letter, on February 6, 1985, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) issued Decision No. 39/HDBT to make February 27 every year “Vietnam Doctors’ Day”. This is a source of pride and honor for us. At the same time, it is also our sacred and noble duty and responsibility towards the community, society and nation.

The 69th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day is an opportunity for us to once again deeply understand the practical teachings, precious feelings, and great contributions of Uncle Ho to the Vietnamese healthcare sector. Each student of the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University needs to further promote the ethics, medical ethics, and qualities of medical students - future physicians "A good doctor must be like a mother". Let's all unite and join hands to build the Faculty of Medicine to develop more and more.

After more than 17 years of construction and development, Dai Nam University has 36 different training majors, with the determination of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, teachers in the Board of Directors with the help of ministries and branches... On January 9, 2020, the Ministry of Education and Training signed Decision No. 87/QD-BGDDT, allowing Dai Nam University to train at the university level in Medicine. Up to now, the school has enrolled 04 courses (K14, K15, K16, K17) with nearly 400 students studying medicine (General Practitioner). We can be proud to have a Faculty of Medicine with full conditions in terms of human resources, facilities and equipment... to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health for training general practitioners.

Dear children!

Surely now, you do not have to worry when studying at the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University. It is true that this is a private school, the Faculty of Medicine is still young, but I can confirm that with the conditions of adequate facilities, equipment, learning materials..., advanced and updated training programs, scientific learning organization methods and especially large practice facilities with a team of highly qualified, experienced, passionate and enthusiastic lecturers with students, the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University is not inferior to other medical schools in the country. The problem is your efforts.

You have determined the right path for yourself, you will certainly reach the shore of success. To become a good doctor, we have to study all our lives, but first of all, you need to train yourself to have the unique qualities of a medical practitioner - the profession of "Saving people and helping the world". You have passed the entrance exam to Dai Nam Medical Faculty, which means you have a certain intellectual foundation, enough ability to study medicine, to acquire necessary medical knowledge, and to apply it to practice to diagnose and treat patients and save people. Medicine is a special profession, if you only have intelligence, it is not enough, you need to have a kind heart, be diligent, patient, endure hardship, be honest and brave.

I believe that you will constantly "Train your virtues and practice your talents" after 6 years of studying at the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University. You will become good doctors, contributing to the cause of taking care of people's health, as beloved Uncle Ho taught, meeting the expectations and pride of your parents, family, teachers and friends.
