To study most effectively, besides will and determination, you need to have appropriate learning methods.

Dear medical students!

When entering university, especially choosing to study Medicine, you need to determine your motivation and clear learning purpose right from the start. In order to study most effectively, in addition to will and determination, you need to have a suitable learning method. In this article, I will share with you my experiences to study well anatomy - a subject that is a prerequisite for the following subjects and is very important when practicing clinical (examining, performing procedures, performing surgery on patients, etc.)

Steps to learn anatomy effectively:

Step 1: Read the materials before listening to the lecture:

  • Read each section of the document carefully and highlight key points.
  • Draw pictures and take notes on the parts of the organs and parts you just read about in the document. Don't be afraid to draw badly because drawing pictures helps us learn quickly and remember the lesson for a long time.
  • Note the contents that cannot be shown in the drawing next to the drawing (for example: function, relationship…)
  • Refer to the pictures or videos on the Internet about the agency you just read the document about.
  • Prepare questions about things you don't understand to ask your friends or teachers during class.

Step 2. Listen to the lecture and take notes

  • Pay attention to the teacher's instructions on learning methods.
  • Pay attention when teachers illustrate with pictures, drawings, videos...
  • Try to draw and annotate the illustrations your teacher gives.
  • Text section, only notes the issues that the teacher expands on (not in the document)
  • You can take pictures of drawings or record the teacher's presentation to review/listen to later.
  • Try to answer the teacher's questions.
  • Take the initiative to ask your teacher about things you don't understand.

Step 3. Review after theory lesson

  • Review the lesson right after class.
  • Review notebook.
  • Redraw the picture and make notes, writing down the content that cannot be shown in the picture next to it.
  • Pocket the drawing and look at it over and over again every day to remember it for a long time.

Step 4. Practice on the model

  • Review the lesson and drawings before the practice session.
  • Compare the drawing with the model.
  • In the study group, self-evaluate each other on the model.
  • Always actively answer teacher's evaluation questions

Step 5. Review after practice session:.

  • Review the drawing and take notes.
  • Connect the parts of your body you just learned (for example: where is the heart, where is the apex of the heart, where is the base of the heart, what parts are related to it...)

Step 6. Review for the final exam:

  • Prepare a review outline (pay attention to drawing pictures and taking notes)
  • Pocket the outline to review several times a day

Wish you all good study results!
