MSc. Pham Van Minh – Deputy Head of Business Administration Department
According to the Law on Higher Education, the responsibility of higher education institutions is to train students to become people with political and moral qualities; have knowledge, professional practice skills, research capacity and appropriate application of science and technology; students upon graduation must have comprehensive expertise, grasp the principles and laws of nature and society, have basic practical skills, be able to work creatively and solve problems. Based on these goals, the Faculty of Business Administration focuses on building a training program that emphasizes comprehensive development in students. During the training process, students not only learn knowledge but also improve life skills and professional skills. In particular, the Faculty always emphasizes raising awareness, changing attitudes and thinking in a positive direction in all activities.
In total, 136 credits that students must accumulate in 4 years will include basic knowledge of principles, specialized knowledge and professional methods and tools for professional practice. In addition to that knowledge, students must accumulate 9 credits in the soft skills group and 4 credits in social responsibility. Business administration students are trained not only to have a deep and creative understanding of their profession, but also to be conscious of the community, responsible for themselves and their families. An excellent manager is not only good at professional knowledge, has leadership ability, has vision, but also must be able to sympathize and share with those around them.
Based on the above, the Faculty of Business Administration has changed the method of evaluating graduation results. From the traditional form of evaluation such as making a graduation report and writing a graduation thesis, students majoring in Business Administration will have to write a Comprehensive Plan to implement a practical program. The program content will be changed according to the actual situation each year, emphasizing training projects, business projects, community projects, environmental projects, etc. That plan must have complete plans for marketing, human resources, finance, services, progress, etc. and risk management activities, evaluation of results, etc. Through the comprehensive plan, students practice the ability to develop plans and prepare for risks. The comprehensive plan will be evaluated based on the level of adherence to reality and suitability to the resources of each student group. In addition, the comprehensive plan will be verified by actual implementation results immediately after being approved. The success or failure of the actual implementation program is evaluated comprehensively throughout the process from preparation, implementation, to final results and lessons learned.
This year, the Faculty of Business Administration has chosen the graduation theme as a soft skills training program. Each group of students will be deployed with a skills training program for high school students at the school where the students have studied. They will apply the knowledge and skills they have learned at university to their activities. Part of the knowledge and skills they have learned will be passed on to the next generation of students. In order to create motivation to study, know how to work in groups, demonstrate their abilities, overcome limits and change their attitudes to be positive, and respect family, friends and society. Through 10 programs organized at 10 different schools in Nam Dinh, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Yen Bai, it can be concluded that the innovation in graduation assessment is completely correct. Through the implementation process, students have been exposed to and solved many problems related to professional knowledge and skills, from communication skills, negotiation, time management, teamwork to specialized knowledge of marketing, human resources, finance, risk... After each program, the department always receives positive feedback from the Board of Directors of high schools, parents' associations and especially students participating in the experience program. Thousands of letters were sent back with deep gratitude to those who implemented the program, to teachers, family and friends, which is a great source of encouragement for the department. Sincere words of thanks from the bottom of our hearts help us to be more determined in innovating teaching content and graduation assessment methods. Everything will always move according to the movement of the times to better suit the requirements of a dynamic market economy. It is true that we cannot use old solutions to solve a new problem. And, changing the way of thinking, changing the way of doing is the only way to adapt to the constant movement of society...
